  1. 1. Towards Effective Fault Prevention : An Empirical Study in Software Engineering

    Author : Niclas Ohlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Quality improvement in terms of lower costs, shorter development times and increased reliability are not only important to most organisations, but also demanded by the customers. This thesis aims at providing a better understanding of which factors affect the number of faults introduced in different development phases and how this knowledge can be used to improve the development of large-scale software: In particular, models that enable identification of fault-prone modules are desirable. 2. 2. The role of fault management in the embedded system design

    Author : Carlo Vitucci; Daniel Sundmark; Thomas Nolte; Fredrik Asplund; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fault Management; Resilient system; Recovery methodology.; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : In the last decade, the world of telecommunications has seen the value ofservices definitively affirmed and the loss of the connectivity value. This changeof pace in the use of the network (and available hardware resources) has ledto continuous, unlimited growth in data traffic, increased incomes for serviceproviders, and a constant erosion of operators’ incomes for voice and ShortMessage Service (SMS) traffic. 3. 3. Injuries among the elderly : study of fatal and non-fatal injury events

    Author : Harmeet Sjögren; Ulf Björnstig; Anders Eriksson; Pat Waller; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; elderly; injury; prevention; traffic; home; fall; crash; disease; bicyclist; pedestrian; cost; vehicle;

    Abstract : In view of the expected increase in the proportion of elderly in the population in most western countries, we studied injuries among the elderly (>60 years) by investigating hospital-treated injuries in inpatients and outpatients, and fatal injuries.One-year Hospital Injury Data - Even though the elderly made up only 15% of the injured in one year, they accounted for 42% of the total cost of trauma medical care, showing that injuries among the elderly place a disproportional burden on the health care system. 4. 4. DC Distributed Power Systems - Analysis, Design and Control for a Renewable Energy System

    Author : Per Karlsson; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiforskning; fault detection; load sharing; wind power; DC distributed power system; voltage control; Energy research; Elektronik och elektroteknik; VSC; Electronics and Electrical technology;

    Abstract : Renewable energy systems are likely to become wide spread in the future due to environmental demands. As a consequence of the dispersed nature of renewable energy systems, this implies that there will be a distributed generation of electric power. READ MORE

  5. 5. Distributed diagnosis and simulation based residual generators

    Author : Jonas Biteus; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Diagnosis; Distributed diagnosis; Fault isolation; Residual generator; Simulation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Fault diagnosis is becoming increasingly important for many technical systems. This is for example true in automotive vehicles where fault diagnosis is needed due to economic reasons such as efficient repair and fault prevention, and legislations that mainly deal with safety and pollution.
