  1. 11. Modelling and control of microbial fed-batch and pH-auxostat processes

    Author : Thi Bich Hop Pham; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Glucose and energy metabolism ofSaccharomyces cerevisiaehas been studied for decades,yet the exact location of the so called "bottleneck" thatcauses overflow metabolism resulting in aerobic ethanolformation remains unknown. However, this does not completelyhamper the modelling, simulation and development of methods tocontrol the aerobic ethanol formation under processconditions. READ MORE

  2. 12. Bioprocess Monitoring and Control in Pseudomonas cepacia and recombinant Escherichia coli cultivations

    Author : Anita Tocaj; LTH Ingenjörshögskolan vid Campus Helsingborg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein L; expanded bed; flow-injection analysis; recombinant protein production; acetic acid; on-line measurements; Pseudomonas cepacia; recombinant Escherichia coli; Fed-batch cultivations; control strategies; xylanase deletion derivatives from Rhodothermus marinus; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The control of cultivation conditions and its influence on growth and production have been investigated. The use of fed-batch processes have been demonstrated for several cultivation systems and so has the use of different control signals in these systems. READ MORE

  3. 13. Impact of glucose uptake rate on recombinant protein production in Escherichia coli

    Author : Emma Bäcklund; Gen Larsson; Olle Holst; KTH; []

  5. 15. Extremum-Seeking Control of Industrial-Scale Fermentation Processes

    Author : Ola Johnsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The work presented here is based on two papers, both pertaining to perturbation-based control strategies in industrial fed-batch fermentation processes. The first paper describes a new control strategy for avoiding overflow metabolism in the exponential growth phase of a fermentation, based on analysis of the frequency spectrum of the dissolved oxygen measurement following a periodic perturbation in the feed rate.
