11. Modelling and control of microbial fed-batch and pH-auxostat processes
Abstract : Glucose and energy metabolism ofSaccharomyces cerevisiaehas been studied for decades, yet the exact location of the so called "bottleneck" thatcauses overflow metabolism resulting in aerobic ethanolformation remains unknown. However, this does not completelyhamper the modelling, simulation and development of methods tocontrol the aerobic ethanol formation under processconditions. READ MORE

12. Bioprocess Monitoring and Control in Pseudomonas cepacia and recombinant Escherichia coli cultivations
Abstract : The control of cultivation conditions and its influence on growth and production have been investigated. The use of fed-batch processes have been demonstrated for several cultivation systems and so has the use of different control signals in these systems. READ MORE

13. Impact of glucose uptake rate on recombinant protein production in Escherichia coli
Abstract : Escherichia coli (E. coli) is an attractive host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve high product quantities. READ MORE

15. Extremum-Seeking Control of Industrial-Scale Fermentation Processes
Abstract : The work presented here is based on two papers, both pertaining to perturbation-based control strategies in industrial fed-batch fermentation processes. The first paper describes a new control strategy for avoiding overflow metabolism in the exponential growth phase of a fermentation, based on analysis of the frequency spectrum of the dissolved oxygen measurement following a periodic perturbation in the feed rate.
