6. First-principles study of defects instructural materials
Abstract : In this thesis, first we focus on the Helium (He) and He bubbles behavior in three kinds of the most promising candidate structural materials for future fusion reactor. These materials are vanadium, silicon carbide (SiC) composites, and reduced activation ferritic-martensitic (RAFM) steels. READ MORE

7. Energy Relevant Materials: Investigations Based on First Principles
Abstract : Energy production, storage and efficient usage are all crucial factors for environmentally sound and sustainable future technologies. One important question concerns the refrigeration industry, where the energy efficiency of the presently used technologies is at best 40% of the theoretical Carnot limit. READ MORE

8. Functional Metal Oxide Materials Deposited by Inkjet Printing Technique
Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetism in 85 to 100nm thin films produced by in situ deposition of industrially important pristine MgO and ZnO by inkjet printing. It is suggested that the observed long range magnetic order, the so-called do magnetism in these oxides arises from cation vacancies. READ MORE

9. Materials for advanced energy technology from quantum-mechanical modeling
Abstract : The present thesis addresses promising material solutions for fusion reactors from a theoretical point of view. We focus on two specific systems: W-based alloys used as plasma-facing materials and reduced activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM, Ferich) steels used as structural materials of breeding-blanket. 10. On Some Properties and Applications of Patterned Ferromagnetic Thin Films
Abstract : A microwave reflection method has been used to measure the spin excitations corresponding to the translational mode of magnetic vortices in samples containing either one or two vortices. Experimental findings are complemented by micromagnetic simulations. One-vortex systems are investigated in micron-sized circular and elliptical cylinders. READ MORE
