  1. 1. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows

    Author : Stefan B Lindström; Tetsu Uesaka; Myat Htun; Fritz Bark; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre; fibre suspension; simulation; paper; papermaking; forming; fibre orientation distribution; fibre flexibility; viscosity; first normal stress difference; fluid flow; simple shear flow; two-way coupling; three-dimensional; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies.     Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; hemicellulose; wood; glucomannan; xylan; structure; acetylation; flexibility; solubility; interaction with cellulose; stability.; hemicellulosa; trä; glukomannan; xylan; struktur; acetylering; flexibilitet; löslighet; interaktion med cellulosa; stabilitet.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Hemicelluloses are a group of heterogeneous polysaccharides representing around 30 % of wood where the dominating types are xylans, glucomannans and xyloglucans. Hemicelluloses complex molecular structure makes it difficult to understand the relationship between structure and properties entirely, and their biological role is not yet fully verified. READ MORE

  3. 3. Melt spun piezoelectric textile fibres : an experimental study

    Abstract : Melt Spun Piezoelectric Textile Fibres - an Experimental Study ANJA LUND Department of Materials and Manufacturing Technology Chalmers University of Technology ABSTRACT The manufacturing and characterisation of piezoelectric textile fibres are described in this thesis. A piezoelectric material is one that generates an electric voltage when deformed, a property which exists in a number of materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional Textile Coatings Containing Flake-shaped Fillers : investigations on selected optical and electrical properties

    Author : Veronica Malm; Ilda Kazani; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : Flakes; fillers; textile coating; properties; multilayered mica; effect pigment; angle-dependent colour change; metals; conductivity; resistance measurements; e-textiles; flexibility; durability; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the manufacturing and characterisation of functionalised textile coatings containing different types of flake-shaped fillers with angle-dependent colour-changing and electrically conductive properties, respectively. Common benefits of these types of flakes are their high aspect ratio, which offers low filler loading with high functional performance. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fibre/fibre joints : their characterization and influence on different paper strength properties

    Author : Annsofie Torgnysdotter; Lars Wågberg; Derek Gray; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The main goal of this work was to gain knowledge of how to process the fibres for a certain enduse purpose. To reach this knowledge it must be clarified how different fibre properties, mechanical and chemical as well as surface and bulk properties, will influence the physical properties of the formed paper.
