6. Fibre orientation and rheological behaviour in compression moulding
Abstract : Compression moulding is a common manufacturing process for composite materials. In order to better predict the processing and performance of components, simulation tools are becoming more important. In this thesis the behaviour of the compression moulding raw material has been studied to provide a platform for better simulations. READ MORE

7. Two-dimensional Nanocomposites Based on Cellulose Nanofibrils and Graphene Oxide
Abstract : Two-dimensional (2D) nanocomposites based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and 2D nanomaterials are of interest as sustainable materials combining functional and structural properties. To achieve reinforcement effects from 2D nanomaterials, their orientation and dispersion state in the CNF matrix are important. READ MORE

8. A Network Model Applied to Cellulose Fibre Materials
Abstract : A network mechanics model for analysis of materials made of dry-shaped cellulose fibres is proposed. In terms of the model, the network is composed of fibres of arbitrary distribution in length, curvature, cross-section. stiffness and strength. The fibres are arranged in a random structure according to an arbitrary orientation distribution. READ MORE

9. Fluid mechanics of fibre suspensions related to papermaking
Abstract : This thesis deals with fluid dynamic mechanisms related to papermaking, specif- ically: the initial dewatering mechanisms during roll-forming and fibre motion in sedimentation and in shear flow. Pressure and wire position measurements have been conducted in a model resembling the forming zone and the measured pressure distributions are shown to have more complex patterns than the simple model p / T/R (where T is the wire tension and R is the roll radius).
