  1. 1. Optical Levitation of Charged Droplets

    Author : Oscar Isaksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water; Optical manipulation; neutralization; Radiation Pressure; demonstration; Millikan Oil Drop experiment; evaporation;

    Abstract : The development of an experimental system used to investigate charged droplets is presented. The experimental setup combines optical levitation with Millikan's classical oil drop experiment and has also been used as a mean to demonstrate fundamental physical phenomena. READ MORE

  2. 2. Electronic and Structural Properties of Thin Films of Phthalocyanines and Titanium Dioxide

    Author : Ylvi Alfredsson; Hans Siegbahn; Anders Sandell; Carla Puglia; Kajsa Uvdal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; photoelectron spectroscopy; x-ray absorption spectroscopy; phthalocyanine; titanium dioxide; electronic structure; electrochromic reactions; thin films; chemical vapor deposition; evaporation; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on experimental studies in chemical physics. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and phthalocyanine’s (Pc’s), interesting in many future perspectives, have been deposited as thin films and studied as follows. Information has been obtained on e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Process Integration in Model Kraft Pulp Mills. Technical, Economic and Environmental Implications

    Author : Ulrika Wising; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pinch technology; system consequences; wastewater; energy; pulp and paper; excess heat; process integration; evaporation;

    Abstract : The technical and economic conditions for reducing the energy consumption cost-efficiently and thereby releasing a surplus of biomass fuel in the pulp and paper industry are changing. For example, new environmental restrictions increase the need for closed water loops and other system modifications, which can lead to increased opportunities for energy savings. READ MORE

  5. 5. Excitons in a high magnetic field

    Author : Alexandre V. Petrov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The interaction of excitons with each other and with charged impurities has been studied in a high magnetic field when the distance between the Landau levels is greater than the Coulomb unit of energy, in the frame of the model suitable for description of Wannier excitons in semiconductors. The analytical expressions for the pair interaction potential between hydrogenlike excitons in a high magnetic field are derived for the triplet and singlet terms. READ MORE
