  2. 12. Cluster Effective Field Theory

    Author : EMIL RYBERG; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; effective field theory; charge radius; resonant state; renormalization; radiative capture; halo nuclei; power counting; nuclear physics; few-body physics;

    Abstract : Halo nuclei are loosely bound systems consisting of a core plus valence nucleon(s). In so called Halo, or Cluster, effective field theory, the core of the halo nucleus is treated as an effective degree-of-freedom without internal structure. READ MORE

  3. 13. Essays on Field Experiments and Impact Evaluation

    Author : Remidius Denis Ruhinduka; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adaptation to climate change; ambiguity; artefactual field experiment; behavioraleconomics; charcoal; credit; deforestation; endogenous switching regression; field experiment; guilt; honesty; impact evaluation; kindness; liquidity constraint; LPG stoves; rice marketing; risk preferences; system of rice intensification; Tanzania; time preferences;

    Abstract : Paper 1: Improving Welfare Through Climate-Friendly Agriculture: The Case of the System of Rice Intensification We use rich survey data to investigate the economic impact of a climate-friendly rice farming method known as the system of rice intensification (SRI) on the welfare of rain-dependent small-holder farmers in Tanzania. SRI reduces water consumption by half, which makes it a promising farming system in the adaptation to climate change in moisture constrained areas, and it does not require flooding of rice fields, resulting in reduced methane emissions. 4. 14. Multi-Camera Light Field Capture : Synchronization, Calibration, Depth Uncertainty, and System Design

    Author : Elijs Dima; Mårten Sjöström; Roger Olsson; Ulf Assarsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Light field; Camera systems; Multiview; Synchronization; Camera calibration;

    Abstract : The digital camera is the technological counterpart to the human eye, enabling the observation and recording of events in the natural world. Since modern life increasingly depends on digital systems, cameras and especially multiple-camera systems are being widely used in applications that affect our society, ranging from multimedia production and surveillance to self-driving robot localization. 5. 15. Defects, renormalization and conformal field theory

    Author : Alexander Söderberg Rousu; Agnese Bissi; Pedro Liendo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; defects; boundaries; replica twist defect; conformal field theory; quantum field theory; Coleman-Weinberg mechanism; renormalization group flows; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Defects in quantum field theories appear in many different contexts and are of great physical interest. Among other things, defects are used to describe the Kondō effect in condensed matter, confinement in quantum chromodynamics, Rényi entropy in quantum information and cosmic strings in string theory.
