  1. 1. Enhancement of Salient Image Regions for Visual Object Detection

    Author : Keren Fu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geodesic distance; graph spectral decomposition; video processing; visual attention; color contrast and distribution; propagation; salient region; figure-ground segmentation;

    Abstract : Salient object/region detection aims at finding interesting regions in images and videos, since such regions contain important information and easily attract human attention. The detected regions can be further used for more complicated computer vision applications such as object detection and recognition, image compression, content-based image editing, and image retrieval. 2. 2. Motion Vision Processing in Fly Lobula Plate Tangential Cells

    Author : Yu-Jen Lee; Karin Nordström; Holger Kraap; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hoverflies; EMD; higher order motion; octopamine; cSIFE; figure-ground discrimination; motion vision; lobula plate tangential cells;

    Abstract : Flies are highly visually guided animals. In this thesis, I have used hoverflies as a model for studying motion vision. Flies process motion vision in three visual ganglia: the lamina, the medulla, and the lobula complex. In the posterior part of lobula complex, there are around 60 lobula plate tangential cells (LPTCs). READ MORE

  3. 3. Visual and tactile neglect

    Author : Haukur Hjaltason; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Visual neglect; tactile neglect; premotor neglect; perceptual neglect; bisection tasks; darkness; tactile exploration; right hand use; right hemisphere activation; three-dimensionality; figure-ground contrast; chronic;

    Abstract : Neglect patients typically fail to report, respond, or orient to information presented in locations further away from the side of the brain lesion. Neglect is most often reported after acute stroke, and is more severe and more frequent after right hemisphere damage. READ MORE
