  1. 1. Structure, Morphology, and Catalytic Properties of CuOx/CeO2 Model Catalysts

    Author : Björn Skårman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Synchrotron radiation; High-energy Diffraction; X-ray Absorption Fine Structure Spectroscopy.; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemistry; Kemi; Material technology; Materiallära; materialteknik; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Atomic force microscopy; Gatan Image Filter GIF ; Energy-filtered TEM; High-resolution electron microscopy; Inert gas condensation IGC ; rf Magnetron sputtering; Thermal activation; Batch reactor; Carbon monoxide oxidation; Surface sensitivity; Catalytic anisotropy; Growth; Nucleation; Topography; Roughness; Core-shell structures; Morphology; Nanostructured; Nanocomposite; Nanoparticles; Surface structure; Polycrystalline surfaces; Thin films; Copper oxide; Cerium dioxide CeO2 ; Ceria;

    Abstract : Cerium dioxide, or ceria, is a chemically stable oxygen ion conducting material with a capacity to store and release oxygen, and is therefore extensively used in combustion catalysts. The Cu-Ce-O system has been identified as one of the most active catalysts for the combustion of carbon monoxide. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Diamond Lemma for Power Series Algebras

    Author : Lars Hellström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical analysis; diamond lemma; power series algebra; Gröbner basis; embedding into skew fields; archimedean element in semigroup; q-deformed Heisenberg--Weyl algebra; polynomial degree; ring norm; Birkhoff orthogonality; filtered structure; Matematisk analys; Mathematical analysis; Analys; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : The main result in this thesis is the generalisation of Bergman's diamond lemma for ring theory to power series rings. This generalisation makes it possible to treat problems in which there arise infinite descending chains. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron tomography analysis of 3D order and interfacial structure in nano-precipitates

    Author : Ling Xie; Klaus Leifer; Christian Kübel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron tomography; nanoprecipitate; interfacial structure.; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Structural characterization is essential to understand the formation mechanisms of the nanostructures in thin absorber layers in third generation solar cells and amyloid protein aggregates. Since to the dimension of the precipitated structures is in nanometer scale, electron tomography technique in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been applied as a major tool to analyze the 3D order and distribution of precipitates using the electron tomography technique. 4. 4. Prediction of 3D structures of oligosaccharides. Methodological development and studies on saccharide antigens of interest for vaccine design

    Author : Jimmy Rosen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Oligosaccharide; conformation; 3D structure; O-antigen; Shigella dysenteriae; Escherichia coli; Burkholderia cepacia; Schistosoma mansoni; filtered systematic search; genetic algorithm;

    Abstract : This thesis presents 3D structure predictions of five immunologically active surfacepolysaccharides of pathogens, which are of interest as targets for development of glycoconjugatevaccines. Furthermore it describes two methods which have been used for theconformational predictionsThe Shigella dysenteriae type 2 Oantigenwas predicted to form a compact helicalstructure with three repeating pentasaccharide units per turn. 5. 5. Genome-wide structural and functional protein characterization by ab initio protein structure prediction

    Author : Lars Malmström; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; Saccharymyces cerevisiae; Ab initio protein structure prediction; Protein annotation;

    Abstract : Very little is known about a considerable part of all proteins and it is time consuming and expensive to study each individual protein to determine its function, structure and cellular role. Proteins retain structural, functional and sequential characteristics from ancestral proteins and hence two proteins that share a common ancestor, i.e. READ MORE
