  1. 1. Environmental Assessment of Green Chemicals - LCA of Bio-Based Chemicals Produced Using Biocatalysis

    Author : Linda Tufvesson; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; green chemicals; industrial biotechnology; Life cycle assessment; renewable resources;

    Abstract : It is of at most importance that society reduces its impact on the environment. In the chemical industry the use of renewable resources will play a fundamental role in the transition to more sustainable chemical products. Also industrial biotechnology, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characteristic Properties and Applications of Fine Particles in Biomass Gasification

    Author : Azhar Malik; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gasification; Biomass; Fine particles; catalyst deactivation; dilution probe sampling; organic;

    Abstract : The gasification of biomass is a promising route to increase the share of renewable sources in the energy mix. Besides having an overall higher thermal efficiency than combustion, it also offers the possibility of producing gaseous and liquid biofuels that can be used in the transport sector. READ MORE

  3. 3. Slurry rheology of industrial minerals and its effects on wet ultra-fine grinding

    Author : Mingzhao He; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates slurry rheology of industrial minerals (limestone and quartzite) and its effects on wet ultra-fine grinding in order to reduce energy cost, increase the throughput as well as the product fineness. The influences of solid concentration, molecular weight of a dispersant, and particle size and distribution on the rheological behaviour of original limestone slurries have been investigated. 4. 4. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads: Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Author : Karin Oscarsson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content.; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Application of the proper dust suppressant to a gravel road ensures road safety and riding comfort as well as creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents in buildings adjacent to the road. It also reduces the need and cost for vehicle repair, road maintenance activities, and aggregate supplementation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads : Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Author : Karin Edvardsson; Björn Birgisson; Andrew Dawson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content;

    Abstract : Approximately 75 percent (300 000 km) of the total Swedish road network and 20 percent(20 000 km) of the national road network consists of gravel roads. One of the most significantproblems associated with gravel roads is traffic-generated dust emission, which contributes tothe deterioration of the road surface and acts as a major source of particulate matter releasedinto the atmosphere, thereby involving public economics, road safety, human health, andenvironmental quality.
