  1. 1. Coil Design and Related Studies for the Fusion-Fission Reactor Concept SFLM Hybrid

    Author : Anders Hagnestål; Olov Ågren; Vladimir Moiseenko; Ladislav Bardos; Jan Scheffel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Fission; Hybrid reactor; Actinides; Mirror Machine; Quadrupolar mirror; Coils; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A fusion-fission (hybrid) reactor is a combination of a fusion device and a subcritical fission reactor, where the fusion device acts as a neutron source and the power is mainly produced in the fission core. Hybrid reactors may be suitable for transmutation of transuranic isotopes in the spent nuclear fuel, due to the safety margin on criticality imposed by the subcritical fission core. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studying neutron-induced fission at IGISOL-4 : From neutron source to yield measurements and model comparisons

    Author : Andrea Mattera; Stephan Pomp; Mattias Lantz; Andreas Solders; Jonathan Wilson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Fission yields represent the probability of producing a certain nuclide in a fission event, and are important observables for fission research. For applications, accurate knowledge of the yields is fundamental at all stages of the fuel cycle of nuclear reactors, e.g., for reactivity calculations, or to estimate (spent) fuel inventory. 4. 4. Development of New Monte Carlo Methods in Reactor Physics : Criticality, Non-Linear Steady-State and Burnup Problems

    Author : Jan Dufek; Jan Wallenius; Waclaw Gudowski; Cheikh Diop; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo; reactor physics; fission source; inactive cycles; convergence; burnup; steady-state; criticality; eigenvalue; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The Monte Carlo method is, practically, the only approach capable of giving detail insight into complex neutron transport problems. In reactor physics, the method has been used mainly for determining the keff in criticality calculations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tellurium Behavior and Management in the Liquid Phases in the Containment During a Severe Nuclear Reactor Accident

    Author : Anna-Elina Pasi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; severe nuclear reactor accident; fission product; source term; tellurium;

    Abstract : No industry is immune to accidents; however, the consequences and the probability are the parameters to consider when assessing the risks. When considering nuclear power, two of the highest-level accidents have occurred during the course of the commercial use of nuclear energy. READ MORE
