1. Adaptive divergence in fission yeast : From experimental evolution to evolutionary genomics
Abstract : How adaptation and population differentiation occur is fundamental to understand the origin of biodiversity. Work in speciation alongside the increased ease of generating genomic data have allowed the exploration of genomic changes relevant to adaptation. READ MORE

2. Importance of the Clr2 protein in heterochromatin formation in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Abstract : Epigenetics is an area of biology that studies heritable changes in gene ex- pression without any change in the DNA sequence. The most studied epige- netic mechanisms are DNA methylation, RNA interference and histone mod- ifications. READ MORE

3. Functional organisation of the cell nucleus in the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Abstract : In eukaryotes the genome adopts a non-random spatial organisation, which is important for gene regulation. However, very little is known about the driving forces behind nuclear organisation. READ MORE

4. Chromatin Dynamics in the Fission Yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Abstract : In the eukaryotic cell nucleus, spatial organization and dynamics of the genome is important in the regulation of gene expression. This thesis describes the use of the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, to study chromatin regulation and dynamics. We used nitrogen starvation to induce transcription of genes in fission yeast cells. READ MORE

5. DNA topoisomerases and nucleosome dynamics in fission yeast
Abstract : The organization of DNA and associated proteins into chromatin allows for compaction and protection of large eukaryotic genomes. However, it also poses a challenge to fundamental cellular processes such as DNA replication, recombination, repair and transcription. READ MORE
