  1. 1. Perception and control of upper limb movement: Insights gained by analysis of sensory and motor variability

    Author : Dmitry Domkin; Mats Djupsjöbacka; John Jeka; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; proprioception; kinaesthesia; position sense; movement sense; position-matching; velocity-discrimination; correlation; uncontrolled manifold; variability; synergy; upper limb; motor control; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : Chronic neck-shoulder pain is associated with impairments of proprioception and motor control. Thus, assessment of proprioceptive and motor function may be powerful tools both for research and clinical practice. READ MORE

  2. 2. Motor Imagery to Facilitate Sensorimotor Re-Learning (MOTIFS): Integrating Dynamic Motor Imagery in Current Treatment of Knee Injury

    Author : Niklas Cederström; Idrottsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; knee injury; Sport medicine; Exercise therapy; Sport psychology;

    Abstract : Traumatic knee injury is common in physical activity that includes jumping and cutting movements, and most commonly include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or meniscus injuries. Surgical or non-surgical intervention strategies may be chosen, but treatment will include a physical-therapist led physical training program. READ MORE

  3. 3. Acute and early chronic responses to resistance exercise using flywheel or weights

    Author : Lena Norrbrand; Per Tesch; Ola Eiken; Per Aagaard; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electromyography; flywheel; magnetic resonance imaging; resistance exercise; Sports; Idrott;

    Abstract : Resistance exercise using weights typically offers constant external load during coupled shortening (concentric) and lengthening (eccentric) muscle actions in sets of consecutive repetitions until failure. However, the constant external load and the inherent capability of skeletal muscle to produce greater force in the eccentric compared with the concentric action, would infer that most actions are executed with incomplete motor unit involvement. 4. 4. Different is cool! Self-efficacy and participation of students with and without disabilities in school-based Physical Education

    Author : Karin Bertills; Mats Granlund; Lilly Augustine; Marte Bentzen; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Self-efficacy; participation; disability; physical education; secondary school;

    Abstract : Background: Self-efficacy predicts school achievement. Participation is important for life outcomes. Functioning affects to what degree you can participate in everyday life situations. Participation-related constructs such as self-efficacy and functioning work both as a means of participation and as an end outcome. READ MORE

  5. 5. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and multiple sclerosis associated neuroinflammation : nationwide epidemiological studies on etiology, comorbidities, and treatment

    Author : Elisa Longinetti; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a relatively rare but fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive muscle paralysis, due to loss of upper and lower motor neurons. Signs of neuroinflammation have been reported in ALS, however it is still unknown whether neuroinflammation is a cause or a consequence of the motor neuron dysfunction. READ MORE
