1. Limiting conditions for a sustained flame over condensed fuels : Analysis by experiments and stagnant layer theory
Abstract : Ignition and extinction characteristics of a material determine whether a fire will be initiated and grow. In fire safety engineering, where modellers deal with a multitude of materials, simplified thresholds are commonly used to determine when ignition and extinction occur. READ MORE

2. Multi-Dimensional Quantitative Laser-based Diagnostics - Development and Practial Applications
Abstract : Laser based optical diagnostic methods are routinely used in combustion research. Many of the more common approaches are based on illuminating a cross-section of the sample with a thin laser sheet. For example, by targeting an electronic transition in a molecule, its concentration within the plane illuminated by the laser sheet can be deduced. READ MORE

3. Studies on Diesel sprays under non-reacting and reacting conditions
Abstract : Methods for reducing engine-out emissions are urgently needed to mitigate climate change and air pollution. In diesel engines, the quality of fuel-air mixing and the subsequent combustion process strongly affect fuel efficiency and engine-out emissions. READ MORE

5. Optical Diagnostics of Soot in Combusting Sprays
Abstract : Optical diagnostics in combusting diesel sprays were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature (HP/HT) spray rig at conditions similar to those in an internal combustion engine, reaching up to 100 bar and 630 ◦ C. Spray development studies and combustion characterisation were done by high speed shadowgraphs that were digitally processed to measure the start of combustion, break-up, droplets and vapour penetration.
