  2. 12. Behaviour and design of adhesive joints in flexural steel members bonded with FRP laminates

    Author : Reza Haghani Dogaheh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laminate; Adhesive joint; Stress concentration; FRP; Design; Optic measurement; Fillet; Tapering;

    Abstract : The use of bonded CFRP laminates to strengthen and upgrade existing structures has attracted a great deal of attention during the past two decades. The superior mechanical properties of CFRP laminates, such as high strength and stiffness, excellent fatigue properties and good durability characteristics, have made them a suitable alternative to steel plates used in traditional strengthening and repair methods. 3. 13. Between square and circle : A study on the behaviour of polygonal steel profiles under compression

    Author : Panagiotis Manoleas; Ove Lagerqvist; Efthymios Koltsakis; Leroy Gardner; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polygonal; RCPS; plate buckling; shell buckling; towers; transmission lines; wind turbines; high strength steel; Stålbyggnad; Steel Structures;

    Abstract : The present study explores the structural properties of regular convex polygonal cross section (RCPS). Such profiles are commonly used to construct masts and towers, e.g.  transmission towers, light poles etc. READ MORE

  4. 14. Corrosion of steel bars in fibre reinforced concrete: corrosion mechanisms and structural performance

    Author : Carlos Gil Berrocal; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; residual flexural capacity; chloride-induced corrosion; electrical resistivity; Fibre reinforced concrete; reinforcement bond; durability; cracking;

    Abstract : The viability of employing fibre reinforcement to improve the durability performance of RC structures by delaying and/or reducing rebar corrosion and by mitigating the structural impact of corrosion-induced damage have been investigated. Given the enhanced crack control of FRC, it could be advantageous to use fibres in civil engineering structures to decrease the ingress of corrosion-initiation substances. READ MORE

  5. 15. Calcium aluminate cement as dental restorative : Mechanical properties and clinical durability

    Author : Karin Sunnegårdh-Grönberg; Jan van Dijken; Preben Hørsted Bindslev; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : mechanical properties; clinical; restorations; ceramic; cement; resin composite; adaptation; SEM; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : In 1995, the Swedish government recommended the discontinuation of amalgam as restorative in paediatric dentistry. Because the mercury content in amalgam constitutes an environmental hazard, its use has declined. READ MORE
