  1. 6. Disperson and Flocculation in a Dry Mat-Forming Process

    Author : Robert Rundqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The absorption cores in disposable nappies, incontinence pads and female hygiene products are manufactured by a dry mat-forming process. Cellulose fibers and super-absorbing particles are suspended in air and blown onto a forming wheel on which the cores are formed. READ MORE

  2. 7. Flocculation with Polyelectrolytes in Latex and Microbial Systems

    Author : Leif Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; floc strength; shear sensitivity; fractal dimension; floc structure; patch flocculation; adhesion; bridging; flocculation; charge compensation; adsorption; ionic strength; molecular weight; charge density; Cationic polyelectrolytes; latex; bacteria; activ; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Adsorption of cationic polyelectrolytes onto polystyrene latices was studied as function of polymer chemical composition and molecular weight, polymer and surface charge density and ionic strength. The ratio between polymer charges and surface charges was close to one when distances between polymer and surface charges were equal. READ MORE

  3. 8. Enzymatic treatment of wastewater sludge. Sludge solubilisation, improvement of anaerobic digestion and extraction of extracellular polymeric substances

    Author : Joanna Wawrzynczyk; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pollution control; Environmental technology; sludge treatment; wastewater activated sludge; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; cation-binding agents; mass reduction; lectins; extracellular polymeric substances; enzymes; enzymatic activity; anaerobic digestion; biogas; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The processing and disposal of sludge from wastewater treatment plants is an important topic of increasing environmental, ecological, technological, economic and social concern. The large amounts of sludge produced represent an urgent problem today, new treatment methods being very much needed. READ MORE

  4. 9. Application of ozone in wastewater treatment : Oxidation of pharmaceuticals and filamentous bulking sludge

    Author : Filip Nilsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ozone; Filamentous Sludge; Pharmaceuticals; Wastewater Treatment; Ozone; Filamentous bulking sludge; Pharmaceutical reduction;

    Abstract : As pharmaceutical removal was not part of the of the modern wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) design, it is not surprising that WWTPs have been identified as major point sources of pharmaceuticals entering the environment. The oxidation of pharmaceuticals in the WWTP effluent is one of the-end-of-pipe solutions that are considered most ready for full-scale use. READ MORE

  5. 10. Fibre flocculation during twin-wire roll forming

    Author : Roger Bergström; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : At the division of Paper Technology a forming unitconsisting of headbox, forming roll unit and reservoir systemfor suspension recirculation has been constructed, with themain purpose to experimentally study the paper forming event byvisually following the fibre flow phenomena in the formingzone.The effect of various running parameters upon the pressuredistribution, which is in correlation to the flow phenomenaoccuring during forming, has been studied with a flush mountedpressure sensor.
