1. Interaction of flows with slender structures and liquid-infused surfaces
Abstract : Surface textures and protrusions can be used to control or gain information about a flow. We investigate the solid-flow interaction of filamentous structures and liquid-infused surfaces (LIS). Both filamentous structures and LIS are used by organisms and can be exploited in technical applications. READ MORE

2. Structural transitions of proton-gated ion channels : Involving pH sensing, heterogeneity and lipid interactions
Abstract : Studying protein structure and function involves analyzing the relationship between a protein's three-dimensional assembly and its dynamic biochemical activity. The superfamily of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels (pLGICs) constitutes a classic yet illuminating experimental system for structure-function studies. READ MORE

3. Land-Sea Interactions in the Coastal-Marine System of the Baltic Sea under Hydro-Climatic Variability
Abstract : This thesis investigates a few important component processes for understanding and quantifying eutrophication in the Baltic Sea, that include characterization of nutrient loadings from land, water flow in the sea under changing climate conditions and transport of solutes originating from different locations along the coast. Furthermore, this study aims to improve our understanding on how processes from land (the nutrient loading conditions) and the sea (transport dynamics and water quality) couple to determine the fate of nutrients in the sea and the water quality in a selected localized coastal area, the Himmerfjärden Bay. 4. Flow and Rheology of Pulp Suspensions at Medium Consistency
Abstract : Traditionally, development of pulp processing equipment has been based on the accumulation of qualitative knowledge (experience) with respect to the interaction of equipment and pulp suspensions. This way of developing equipment requires several trials and prototypes before the final product and process data can be established. READ MORE
