  1. 1. On the Design of Residential Condensing Gas Boilers

    Author : Mikael Näslund; Energihushållning; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy research; flue systems; modelling; efficiency; condensing boilers; space heating; natural gas; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : Two main topics are dealt with in this thesis. Firstly, the performance of condensing boilers with finned tube heat exchangers and premix burners is evaluated. Secondly, ways of avoiding condensate formation in the flue system are evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Heat driven cooling in district energy systems

    Author : Magnus Rydstrand; KTH; []
    Keywords : District heating; district cooling; thermal storage; humidified gas turbines; combined heat and power; cooling;

    Abstract : Abstract The threat of global warming, caused by increasingemissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), is one reason why cooling supply systems mustwork more efficiently in the world today. An increasing share,currently between 10 and 20%, of the global output ofelectricity is consumed to produce cooling. READ MORE

  3. 3. Absorption Based Systems for Co-removal of Nitrogen Oxides and Sulfur Oxides from Flue Gases

    Author : Jakob Johansson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SOx; absorption; ClO2; sulfite oxidation; gas-phase oxidation; NOx; Emissions control; scale-up;

    Abstract : Enhanced control of nitrogen and sulfur emissions, found in many of industrial processes, is anticipated for decades to come. Stricter emission regulations require new technologies adapted to the new conditions at reasonable cost. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chemistry and Process Design of Integrated Removal of Nitrogen and Sulfur oxides in Pressurized Flue Gas Systems

    Author : Sima Ajdari; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Carbon capture and storage is vital to reach the climate goals to limit the increase in the global temperature. Among the carbon capture technologies, oxy-fuel and chemical looping combustion produce a stream mainly containing carbon dioxide (CO2) and water but also contaminants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx). 5. 5. Upscaling and Evaluation of Absorption Based Systems for Co-removal of NOx and SOx from Flue Gases

    Author : Jakob Johansson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; absorption; gas-phase oxidation; scale-up; Emissions control; SOx; NOx; ClO2;

    Abstract : As long as combustion remains a vital part of the energy system, the removal of nitrogen oxides (NOx) will be a challenge that will need to be addressed. In addition, emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) will be a problem as long as fuels such as coal and oil are used, as is envisaged in every road map suggested by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC).
