1. Lateral mixing of solids in bubbling fluidized beds – experimental quantification
Abstract : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Fuels such as biomass and waste, which are commonly used in fluidized beds, are characterized by volatile contents much higher than what is found in fossil fuels such as coal. READ MORE

2. SOLIDS MIXING IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BEDS
Abstract : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Mixing of fuel is important to ensure complete conversion and reduced emissions of unburnt material. READ MORE

3. Some Fluid Dynamic Characteristics in the Scale-up of Rushton Turbine-Agitated Tanks
Abstract : Turbine-agitated tanks are used in chemical and biochemical applications to increase mixing which, in turn, affects the yield, productivity and product quality. The purpose of this work was to study the hydrodynamic influence on the scale-up of turbine-agitated tanks, commonly used in fermentation. READ MORE

4. Axial Mixing of Large Solids in Fluidised Beds – Modelling and Experiments
Abstract : Fluidisation is a technology commonly found wherever particulate solids are to be transported, mixed and/or reacted with a gas. At present, it is a widespread technology with applications ranging from the production of carbon nanotubes in the manufacturing industry to the conversion of solid fuels in the heat and power sector. 5. Heat Transfer in Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers
Abstract : Heat transfer to single particles in the transport zone of circulating fluidized beds and heat transfer to membrane tube walls have been investigated. The heat transfer coefficient to spheres in the transport zone of a circulating fluidized bed boiler has been measured with dark and light calorimeters. READ MORE
