31. Microfluidics and AI for single-cell microbiology
Abstract : Most of the biological sciences deal with understanding the relationships between phenotypes and the underlying molecular mechanisms of organisms. This thesis is an engineering, computational, and experimental exercise in expanding the scope and scale of phenotype-genotype mapping techniques in single-cell microbiology using microscopy, microfluidics, and image processing. 32. Molecular markers reflecting malignant transformation and tumor progression
Abstract : The early detection of neoplastic lesions is most critical in the successful treatment of malignant disease. This thesis investigates molecular targets for an improved detection and diagnosis of cancer by exploring the value of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect specific chromosomal aneuploidies and gene amplifications, and laminin-5 gamma2 chain expression detected by immunohistochemistry as a marker for invasiveness. 33. Cytogenetic studies of normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma
Abstract : In the present thesis normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were studied by cytogenetic and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) methods to investigate chromosomal aberrations. In the first study, 4 samples of nonneoplastic kidney tissue were cultured for cytogenetic analysis and trisomy 7 was found in all cases in 3-15% of the cells. READ MORE

34. Genetic Characterization of Pediatric T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Abstract : The aim of my thesis has been to characterize genetically pediatric T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Articles I and II focus on molecular characterization of translocations involving T-cell receptor (TCR) loci. READ MORE

35. CYTOGENETIC AND MOLECULAR GENETIC CHARACTERIZATION OF LIPOMAS
Abstract : The focus of this thesis was to study cytogenetic and molecular genetic aberrations in lipomas. For this purpose, chromosome banding analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), as well as high resolution single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)–arrays were used to identify recurrent chromosomal aberrations in lipomas.
