1. Characterization of Genetic Abnormalities at Disease Progression of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
Abstract : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder associated with the translocation t(9;22)(q34;q11) and progresses from a relatively indolent chronic phase (CP) to an accelerated phase (AP) and finally to the more aggressive blast crisis (BC). The general aim of this thesis was to identify and characterize genetic abnormalities occurring at disease progression of CML using molecular cytogenetic, molecular genetic, and bioinformatic analyses. 2. Environmental filtering of bacteria in low productivity habitats
Abstract : Microbes fulfill important ecosystem functions by contributing as drivers of global nutrient cycles. Their distribution patterns are mainly controlled by environmental heterogeneities. So far, little is known about the mode of action of particular environmental drivers on the microbiota, particularly in low productivity habitats. READ MORE

3. Genetic alterations in Scandinavian neuroblastoma tumors
Abstract : The results presented here derive from our efforts to find genes and chromosomal regions of interest in the formation and progression of the childhood tumor neuroblastoma.Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor of childhood. READ MORE

4. Treponema spp. in porcine skin ulcers : clinical aspects
Abstract : The hypothesis tested in this work is that bacteria of genus Treponema play a main role when shoulder ulcers and ear necrosis occur in an infectious or severe form, and perhaps also in other skin conditions in the pig. Samples were collected from pigs in 19 Swedish herds 2010-2011. READ MORE

5. Development of DNA-based methods for analysis of protein interactions
Abstract : In situ proximity ligation assay (PLA) is a method for detection of protein interactions, post-translational modifications (PTMs) and individual proteins that allows information about their localization in a cell or tissue to be extracted. The method is based on oligonucleotide-conjugated antibodies (proximity probes) that upon binding of two epitopes in close proximity give rise to an amplifiable DNA circle. READ MORE
