  1. 1. Occupational exposure to fluorinated ski wax

    Author : Helena Nilsson; Jonathan W. Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated; polyfluorinated; FIS; occupational exposure; ski wax; biotransformation; metabolism; fluorotelomer alcohol; fluorotelomer acid; aerosol; dust; UPLC MS-MS; GC MS-MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) are used in the production of ski wax to reduce the friction between the snow and the ski. In this occupational study of ski wax technicians’ exposure to PFAS and particulate aerosol we have collected whole blood (wb) (n =94), air (n =84) and aerosol (n =159) samples at World Cup events from 2007-2011. 2. 2. Estimating children’s exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

    Author : Kerstin Winkens; Ian T. Cousins; Urs Berger; Robin Vestergren; Heather M. Stapleton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAS; PFAA; fluorinated; fluorotelomer; FTOH; PAP; early life; child; human; exposure; intake; indoor; bedroom; air; dust; serum; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are highly stable, surface active chemicals, which are water- and oil/stain-repellent. Because of their unique properties, PFASs are widely used in consumer products. READ MORE

  3. 3. Stabilization remediation of soils contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs)

    Author : Mattias Sörengård; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a major global concern in pollution of drinking water sources and aquatic environments. Due to the high persistence and mobility of these compounds, remediation methods for PFAS-contaminated soils are urgently needed to protect the surrounding environment and drinking water source areas. 4. 4. Sources, transport and fate of perfluoroalkyl acids in the atmosphere

    Author : Jana Johansson; Ian Cousins; Tom Harner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; PFOS; PFOA; Isomers; Sources; Atmospheric transport; Sea spray; Gas-particle partitioning; Volatilisation; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals which have been observed in the global environment, even in locations far away from where they are emitted. These persistent substances are taken up in humans and biota and may have toxic effects. READ MORE
