  1. 1. Modelling and measuring transport in fusion plasmas

    Author : Istvan Pusztai; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion plasmas; ITG stability; microinstabilities; de-convolution; Lorentz operator; gyrokinetic equation; transport; quasilinear flux; beam emission spectroscopy; ion temperature gradient mode; electron density measurement; trapped electron response;

    Abstract : In the present thesis we consider theoretical and experimental aspects of the turbulent transport which is a crucial issue in fusion plasma physics.Experimental observations and gyrokinetic simulations show that collisions strongly influence the turbulent flux of particles. 2. 2. Moisture transport processes in Scots pine - Anomalous capillary suction. Nonisothermal diffusion

    Author : Ingemar Segerholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture transport coefficients; nonisothermal; anomalous capillary suction; flux equation; phenomenological approach; wood;

    Abstract : Moisture transport processes in wood have become increasingly important with the growing use of wood as construction material. This thesis deals with two key processes: capillary suction and nonisothermal diffusion. In the study on capillary suction, several methods were used. READ MORE

  3. 3. How do metamorphic fluids move through rocks? : An investigation of timescales, infiltration mechanisms and mineralogical controls

    Author : Barbara I. Kleine; Alasdair D. L. Skelton; John C. Schumacher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metamorphic fluid flow; fluid-rock interaction; fluid infiltration mechanisms; fluid flux rates; thermodynamic modeling; reaction front propagation; fluid flux calculation; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to provide a better understanding of the role of mountain building in the carbon cycle. The amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere due to metamorphic processes is largely unknown. READ MORE

    Abstract : Biopharmaceuticals treat a range of diseases, and is a growing sector within the pharmaceutical industry. A majority of these complex molecules are produced by genetically modified mammalian cells in large-scale cell cultures. READ MORE

  5. 5. Turbulence and scalar flux modelling applied to separated flows

    Author : Johan Gullman-Strand; Arne V. Johansson; Suad Jakirlic; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; fluid physics; plasma physics; applied mechanics; aerospace; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : The turbulen flow in an asymmetric diffuser has been en studied by the means of Reynold average Navier-Stokes equations with both differential and explict algebraic expressions to model the Reynolds stress tensor. Modifications to the differential stress model have been derived, using the inverse turbulence timescale to obtain the dissipation of turbuence kinetic energy. READ MORE
