  1. 1. Experimental Studies of the Interaction of Atmospheric Aerosol Particles with Clouds and Fogs

    Author : Göran Frank; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; unipolar charger; Physics; DMA; differential mobility analyser; DAA; droplet aerosol analyser; fog microstructure; cloud microstructure; fog droplet; cloud droplet; cloud; fysisk instrumentering; fog; Metrologi; physical instrumentation; Metrology; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Frank;

    Abstract : In this work, cloud and fog droplet formation was studied in three joint field experiments. The instrument, the droplet aerosol analyser (DAA), has also been further developed and verified as part of this work. The DAA is an instrument especially developed for studies of cloud and fog droplet formation and growth. READ MORE

  2. 2. Persistent Fault-Tolerant Storage at the Fog Layer

    Author : Zeinab Bakhshi Valojerdi; Hans Hansson; Guillermo Rodriguez-Navas; Sasikumar Punnekkat; Radu Prodan; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dependability; Fog Computing; Fault-tolerance; Containerization; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Clouds are powerful computer centers that provide computing and storage facilities that can be remotely accessed. The flexibility and cost-efficiency offered by clouds have made them very popular for business and web applications. The use of clouds is now being extended to safety-critical applications such as factories. READ MORE

  3. 3. Improving Soft Real-time Performance of Fog Computing

    Author : Vaclav Struhar; Moris Behnam; Seyed Mohammad Hossein Ashjaei; Alessandro Papadopoulos; Silviu Craciunas; Ivona Brandic; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fog computing; real-time systems; cloud; virtualization; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Fog computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing from remote cloud data centers into the vicinity of the edge of the network. The computation is performed closer to the source of the data, and thus it decreases the time unpredictability of cloud computing that stems from (i) the computation in shared multi-tenant remote data centers, and (ii) long distance data transfers between the source of the data and the data centers. 4. 4. Sustainable management of the Salalah coastal aquifer in Oman using an integrated approach

    Author : Mahaad Issa Shammas; Gunnar Jacks; Ronny Berndtsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; groundwater; cosatal aquifer; salt water instrusion; fog; modelling; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : Most of the coastal areas around the globe depend on coastal aquifers vulnerable to salt water intrusion. The Salalah plain in southern Oman is underlain by a shallow limestone aquifer extending north up to the foot of the Jabal AlQara which reach a height of about 1000 m. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the intra-seasonal to decadal climate variability over South-Asia

    Author : Faisal Saeed Syed; Heiner Körnich; Erik Kjellström; Jagadish Shukla; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; South Asia; monsoon; western disturbances; fog; climate variability; climate dynamics; teleconnections; ENSO; NAO; CGT; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : South Asia, a land of contrasting landscapes, seasons and climates, is highly vulnerable to climate variability over intra-seasonal to decadal time scales. In winter, precipitation over the western parts of south Asia and fog over the Indo-Gangetic (IG) plains are the two major climatic features. READ MORE
