11. Wheat quality under a climate spell : a focus on protein, physico-chemical and growth characteristics evaluated by innovatively combined approaches
Abstract : The quality of bread is largely determined by the gluten protein concentration and composition, both greatly influenced by environmental factors such as heat and drought. Future climate in Sweden is expected to fluctuate severely, affecting gluten proteins and the production of bread wheat, as well as future availability of food. READ MORE

12. Sustainable agriculture : From global challenges to local land management
Abstract : Despite the success of agriculture management practices in increasing the availability of food needed to meet the requirements of the expanding global population, there are increasing demands placed on the resources on which the sector depends. Opportunities for the development of agricultural systems are constrained by increasing competition, from other sectors, for shared resources. READ MORE

13. Lipids in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and effects on human health
Abstract : There is evidence that n-3 fatty acids (FA), especially EPA and DHA, are beneficial for human health. This thesis examined factors influencing FA composition in common carp flesh, sought to develop a procedure for long-term sustainable culture of common carp with improved muscle lipid quality (omega 3 carp) and studied the health benefits of eating such carp in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. 14. Supply and value chain analyses of warqe food products in relation to post-harvest losses
Abstract : Post-harvest losses are a global problem and are of critical importance in food-insecure countries such as Ethiopia. Losses of root and tuber crops are known to be high in developing countries, where many of the population are dependent on these crops. Warqe (Ensete ventricosum (Welw.) Cheesman) is a staple crop in Ethiopia. READ MORE

15. Valorization of herring filleting co-products to silage - Control of protein hydrolysis and lipid oxidation during ensilaging and possibilities for separating herring silage into multiple products
Abstract : Industrial processing of herring ( Clupea harengus ) into convenience products such as fillets generates around 60% co-products being rich in both protein and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). A promising cost-efficient strategy to valorize these raw materials into food and/or feed ingredients would be to apply ensilaging, i.e. READ MORE
