  1. 1. Shaping sustainable food systems : Local participation in addressing global challenges

    Author : Aniek Hebinck; Line Gordon; Joost M. Vervoort; Stephan Barthel; Moya Kneafsey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; food systems; sustainability; food governance; transformative change; participatory processes; participation; civil society; niche level; food policy; urban food; urban agriculture; food poverty; imagined futures; foresight; Sustainability Science; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : The current unsustainable trajectory of food systems puts the social and ecological processes and functions on which human flourishing depends at risk. This last decade has seen, on one hand, continued insistence on transformative action and on the other, uncertainty and instability with respect to traditional, established institutions, such as the state. 2. 2. Food Packaging for Sustainable Development

    Author : Helén Williams; Fredrik Wikström; Ole Jørgen Hanssen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Packaging; sustainable development; service perspective; food losses; food waste; consumer interaction; life cycle assessment - LCA; consumer value; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : Packaging has been on the environmental agenda for decades. It has been discussed and debated within the society mainly as an environmental problem. Production, distribution and consumption of food and drinks contribute significant to the environmental impact. However, consumers in the EU waste about 20% of the food they buy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dynamically predicted shelf-life service : Exploring and evaluating a potential sustainable food supply chain innovation

    Author : Malin Göransson; Förpackningslogistik; []

    Abstract : Roughly one third of all the food produced worldwide goes to waste. The global goals for sustainable development set by the United Nations in 2015 call for a 50% reduction of food waste per capita by 2030. We thus face several major food waste challenges that need academic and practical attention. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reducing the environmental impact of food products logistics systems

    Author : Kristina Liljestrand; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; food waste; food logistics; green logistics; food logistics systems; food supply chains; Transport’s impact on climate;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses how to reduce two types of environmental impact generated in logistics systems: transport’s impact on climate and food waste. In mitigating both these types of environmental impact, actors in food supply chains (FSC)—producers, wholesalers, and retailers—play important roles, for both causes of environmental impacts and improvement actions to moderate them emerge within their logistics systems. 5. 5. Dynamic Modelling and Simulation of Liquid Food Process Lines

    Author : Tomas Skoglund; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process lines; Dynamic model; Microbial deactivation; Data- och systemvetenskap; computer technology; Systems engineering; Fuzzy traceability; Traceability; Thermal engineering; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Food and drink technology; Heat exchanger; Dispersion; Fluid property transition; Liquid food; Dynamic simulation; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : In the present work a dynamic model library of components for process lines was developed. The analysis addressed characteristic aspects of liquid food process lines, and new models were developed for fluid transitions, dispersion, mixing zones and first-order chemical reactions in pipes and heat exchangers.
