  1. 1. SEFAS The Self-Reported Foot and Ankle Score

    Author : Maria Cöster; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ankle; foot; measurement properties; patient-reported outcome measures; reliability; responsiveness; SEFAS; validity;

    Abstract : Background: Patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments are used in all medical disciplines to evaluate patients with different diseases and also to follow results after treatments such as surgery. Currently there is no generally accepted and fully validated PRO instrument for the foot and ankle. READ MORE

  2. 2. Foot-Ankle Joints Responses. Epidemiology, Biomechanics and Mathematical Modeling

    Author : Chantal S. Parenteau; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mathematical models; biomechanics; range of motion; ankle injury; injury mechanisms; ligament failure; center of rotation; ankle and subtalar joints; ankle fracture;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to acquire better knowledge of foot-ankle injuries because of their increasing importance in car crashes. Three approaches were used: epidemiology, biomechanics and mathematical modeling. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomechanical consequences of gait impairment at the ankle and foot : Injury, malalignment, and co-contraction

    Author : Ruoli Wang; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Eva Broström; Eriksson Anders; Ilse Jonkers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; muscle function; gait analysis; induced acceleration; foot kinematics; dynamic joint stiffness;

    Abstract : The human foot contributes significantly to the function of the whole lower extremity during standing and locomotion. Nevertheless, the foot and ankle often suffer injuries and are affected by many musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dynamic ankle-foot orthoses in children with spastic diplegia : interview and experimental studies

    Author : Annika Näslund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Abstract : Dynamic ankle-foot orthosis (DAFO) is a thin supra malleolar orthosis used as a compliment to the total treatment program in children with cerebral palsy (CP) in order to facilitate function in sitting, standing and walking. The DAFO keeps the foot in a functional position and is said to provide the child with proprioceptive feedback for balance- and postural control. READ MORE

  5. 5. ON ARTHRODESIS AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HUMAN ANKLE

    Author : Thomas Anderson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Replacement; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; traumatologi; Kirurgi; ortopedi; Rheumatoid arthritis; Arthrodesis; Ankle;

    Abstract : Of 30 primary ankle fusions in patients with osteoarthrosis, 25 ankles underwent clinical evaluation by two independent observers. In 29 cases, two independent radiologists, unanimously found 26 ankles to be radiographically fused, and three not fused. The consistency between the two orthopaedic surgeons evaluations was somewhat lower. READ MORE
