  1. 11. The impression technique for assessment of tissue oedema : instrumentation, evaluation and applications

    Author : Olof Lindahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical Engineering for Healthcare;

    Abstract : An instrument for clinical noninvasive assessment of tissue oedema based on an impression method was developed. The method measures and evaluates the decaying force, due to translocation of tissue fluid, during mechanical compression of any site of tissue. We applied the impression method on physical models, animal models, and patients. READ MORE

  2. 12. Transfer of Angular Momentum in Astrophysical Discs

    Author : Mattias Wahde; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In this thesis a study of astrophysical discs, with emphasis on galactic discs, is presented. The frictional force acting on a small satellite galaxy, moving on a co-planar circular orbit in a galactic disc, is shown to be only weakly dependent on the velocity dispersion and the self-gravity of the disc. 3. 13. Magnetron Sputter Epitaxy of GaN

    Author : Muhammad Junaid; Jens Birch; Lars Hultman; Vanya Darakchieva; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Electronic-grade GaN (0001) epilayers have been grown directly on Al2O3 (0001) substrates by reactive DC-magnetron sputter epitaxy (MSE) from a liquid Ga sputtering target in an Ar/N2 atmosphere. The as-grown GaN epitaxial film exhibit low threading dislocation density on the order of ≤ 1010 cm-2 obtained by transmission electron microscopy and modified Williamson-Hall plot. READ MORE

  4. 14. Subjective assessment of vibrations in lightweight floors

    Author : Junye Wang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Abstract : Lightweight steel floors arise a lot of attentions because of its advantages, such as cost effective, recyclable, and having a short construction period. On the other hand, low frequency vibrations induced by normal human activities get more and more complains for these types of structures. READ MORE

  5. 15. The role of simulation technology for skills acquisition in image guided surgery

    Author : Gunnar Ahlberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Endoscopy; Laparoscopy; Virtual reality; Simulation; Proficiency-based training; Image guided surgery; Surgical education; Objective assessment.;

    Abstract : Technical proficiency is an essential ingredient in surgical competence, which has hitherto been poorly evaluated. The introduction of disruptive technology into the Operating Room (OR) with respect to operative procedures requires an equally disruptive paradigm shift in surgical training that matches the development in OR technology.
