  1. 1. Convection in Loose-fill Attic Insulation

    Author : Paula Wahlgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; loose-fill insulation; forced convection; attics; natural convection; heat transfer; thermal insulation;

    Abstract : The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of convection on the thermal performance of loose-fill attic insulation under realistic climate conditions. In order to achieve this, a large-scale attic test model has been constructed in a climate chamber. READ MORE

  2. 2. Turbulent Forced Convection Air Cooling of Electronics with Heat Sinks Under Flow Bypass Conditions

    Author : Hans Jonsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : forced convection; heat transfer; pressure drop; turbulent; air cooling; bypass; plate; strip; pin; fin; heat sink; electronics; experimental; numerical; CFD; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Air cooling is still the dominant method for dissipating theheat produced by electronic components. In a typical electronicdevice, the components are situated on a Printed Circuit Board(PCB). For most applications natural convection is sufficientto cool the components. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distribution of Ventilation Air and Heat by Buoyancy Forces inside Buildings : An Experimental Study

    Author : Claes Blomqvist; Mats Sandberg; Per Heiselberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building ventilation; thermal forces; buoyancy; gravity currents; large openings; heating; air quality; forced convection; free convection; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The main task of the ventilation system in a building is to maintain the air quality and (together with the heating or cooling system) the thermal climate at an acceptable level within the building. This means that a sufficient amount of ventilation air at the appropriate temperature and quality must be supplied to satisfy thermal comfort and air quality demands and that this air is distributed to the parts of the building where people reside. 4. 4. DNS and LES of Turbulent Natural Convection Boundary Layer

    Author : Darioush Gohari Barhaghi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DNS; free convection; LES; natural convection boundary layer; vertical cylinder;

    Abstract : Turbulent natural convection boundary layers possess some special characteristicscompared to the other boundary layers.In order to study this kind of boundary layer, two powerful numerical methods,Direct Numerical Simulation or DNS and Large Eddy Simulation or LES,are used. 5. 5. Prediction of forced convection heat transfer to Lead-Bismuth-Eutectic

    Author : Roman Thiele; Henryk Anglart; Martin Rohde; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lead-bismuth-eutectic; Forced convective heat transfer; Turbulence-modeling; GEN-IV reactors;

    Abstract : The goal of this work is to investigate the capabilities of two different commercial codes, OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX, to predict forced convection heat transfer in low Prandtl number fluids and investigate the sensitivity of these predictions to the type of code and to several input parameters.The goal of the work is accomplished by predicting forced convection heat transfer in two different experimental setups with the codes OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX using three different turbulence models and varying the input parameters in an extensive sensitivity analysis.
