6. Structure and Phase Stability of CaC2 Polymorphs, Li2C2 and Lithium Intercalated Graphite : A Revisit with High Pressure Experiments and Metal Hydride–Graphite Reactions
Abstract : Alkali (A) and alkaline earth (AE) metals can form carbides and intercalated graphites with carbon. The carbides mostly represent acetylides which are salt-like compounds composed of C22− dumbbell anions and metal cations. Both the acetylide carbides and intercalated graphites are technologically important. READ MORE

7. Vortex generator modeling and its application to optimal control of airflow in inlet
Abstract : This dissertation deals with the development of the vortex generator model and its use for the optimization study of vortex generator flow control in high-offset-ed inlets. In the first part, the overview of use of vortex generators and their mechanism is outlined. READ MORE

8. Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ disease. Synovitis, cartilage, remodeling
Abstract : This thesis evaluates and correlates the findings in a series of children with Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ Disease at the Departments of Orthopedics, University Hospitals in Lund, Sweden and Odense, Denmark during 1984-1993. It focuses on the importance of synovitis and its effect on the cartilage, on the shape of the femoral head in the early phases of LCPD and on femoral head remodeling after proximal femoral varus derotation osteotomy. 9. High Pressure Jet Assistance in Steel Turning
Abstract : Steel turning is one of the most common industrial processes today. It is a very old process, where a lot of improvements and optimisations have been done throughout history. But, the struggle for further cost reductions pushes the process development into new areas. READ MORE

10. New Fullerene Materials Obtained in Solution and by High Pressure High Temperature Treatment
Abstract : Crystallization of C60 and C70 from organic solution often leads to the formation of new solvates and other fullerene compounds. In the present thesis, a number of such solvates were obtained and their phase transitions studied using in situ "in solution" techniques. READ MORE
