  1. 6. Optical remote sensing of industrial gas emission fluxes

    Author : John Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOAS; formaldehyde; optical remote sensing; gas emission; absorption spectroscopy; solar occultation; VOC; flux measurement; FTIR;

    Abstract : Mobile optical remote sensing techniques offer promising possibilities to quantify and geographically attribute local industrial gaseous emissions to the atmosphere. Studies have shown that such emissions are often poorly understood, underestimated, and thereby not properly accounted for in emission inventories and regional atmospheric chemistry models, especially for emissions of VOCs. 2. 7. Exposure to some carcinogenic compounds in air, with special reference to wood smoke

    Author : Pernilla Gustafson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : formaldehyde; acetaldehyde; 1; 3-butadiene; benzene; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; particulate matter; domestic wood burning; exposure assessment; personal exposure; experimental study;

    Abstract : The general population is exposed to air pollutants in both indoor and outdoor air from many different sources, including traffic, biomass burning, industries, cigarette smoking, and certain building materials. Air pollutants can cause a variety of health effects such as cancer and respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. READ MORE

  3. 8. Development and Application of Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy and Laser-induced Fluorescence for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Christian Brackmann; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-induced Fluorescence; Formaldehyde; Biofuel; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Energy research; Energiforskning; Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy; Combustion; Laser diagnostics; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Brackmann;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns the development and application of two laser-based methods for combustion diagnostics: dual broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). In efforts to increase the usefulness of the CARS technique, the applicability of a method involving a combination of the rotational CARS technique and the closely related vibrational CARS technique was investigated. 4. 9. Selective oxidation over mixed oxide catalysts

    Author : Robert Häggblad; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; propane; catalysis; Selective oxidation; transition metal oxides; vanadium; molybdenum; methanol oxidation; ammoxidation; propene; acrylonitrile; formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Since the metal oxide catalysts used in many chemical processes show very high selectivity for the products aimed at, both today and in the future, they play a key role in the environmentally and economically sustainable production of chemical intermediates. Two processes of this sort have been studied in the thesis: the ammoxidation of propane and propene over a Mo-V-Nb-Te-oxide catalyst and the selective oxidation of methanol over vanadium-based catalysts. 5. 10. Homogeneous Ignition - Chemical Kinetic Studies for IC-Engine Applications

    Author : Per Amnéus; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skeletal mechanism; Mechanism reduction; n-heptane; iso-octane; formaldehyde; methane; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Physics; Fysik; Detailed chemistry; Kinetic calculations; Engine knock; Homogeneous charge compression ignition; HCCI; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Amnéus;

    Abstract : Calculations on a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine have been performed. Zero-dimensional models were used. The simplest model compressed the gas to auto-ignition, using temperature and pressure at a certain crank angle position obtained from engine experiments. READ MORE
