1. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure
Abstract : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 2. Modelling of the pressure distributions in twin-wire blade formers
Abstract : During papermaking, the internal structure of the fibrenetwork constituting the paper is to a dominating extentdetermined in the forming zone of the paper machine. Thisthesis is aimed at studying the pressure distribution in bladeforming sections, which is commonly considered to be a keyquantity of the process. READ MORE

3. Mechanical modelling of blade forming and drainage of flocculated suspensions
Abstract : A method has been developed for flexible modelling of multi-component twin-wire blade formers. Features such as suction devices, loadable blades, curved blades, and partial contact between the blades and the forming fabrics are easily incorporated. READ MORE

4. A Novel Fiber Interaction Method for Simulation of Early Paper Forming
Abstract : In the forming section of a paper machine, a fiber suspension is flowing down onto a forming fabric, and a paper structure is formed. By using computer simulations this process can be studied, attaining new knowledge helping to improve paper quality and machine efficiency. READ MORE

5. 3D-Weaving and Noobing: Characterization of Interlaced and Non-interlaced 3D Fabric Forming Principles
Abstract : TEXTILE-based composite materials are the rapidly developing light-weight engineering materials. Fabrics constitute the reinforcement component of the composite material. The fabrics used in composites manufacture are referred to as preforms and are especially engineered as a single-fabric system to impart reliability and performance. READ MORE
