  1. 1. Applications of Rice's formula in oceanographic and environmental problems

    Author : Sofia Åberg; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operations research; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; operationsanalys; Statistics; Encountering waves; Gaussian random fields; Palm distributions; Rice s formula; wave statistics; level crossings; programmering; aktuariematematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on five papers (A-E), all treating various applications of Rice's formula. The areas of application are oceanographic and environmental problems. The first three papers treat properties of encountering waves, that is, waves that a ship encounters while sailing on the ocean. READ MORE

  2. 2. Breastfeeding and introduction of other foods : A prospective longitudinal study in Sweden

    Author : Agneta Hörnell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; accustoming; breastfeeding duration; chewing; coeliac disease; exclusive breastfeeding; feeding frequency; formula; night feeding; pacifier use; sleep; solids; suckling duration; thumb sucking; weaning; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Abstract : This study, based on daily recordings of infant feeding, comprised 506 infants from Uppsala, Sweden. All mothers had had previous breastfeeding experience of at least 4 months, and were planning to breastfeed the index child for ≥6 months. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nutrition in infancy - Clinical studies on dietary intake, metabolism and growth

    Author : Pia Karlsland Åkeson; Preventiv pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; urea; triglycerides; protein intake; nutrition; Mediterranean; infant; growth; formula; fat intake; energy intake; diet; C-peptide; cholesterol; breast milk; bioavailability; amino acids; apolipoproteins; weaning; weaning foods; Pediatrics; Pediatri;

    Abstract : Nutrition in infancy - Clinical studies on dietary intake, metabolism and growth Our aims were to try to determine an appropriate formula protein concentration to be used during the second half of infancy and to evaluate the effects on plasma lipids when breast milk was exchanged for formula and/or weaning foods. Both aspects were studied with special regard to the influence of traditional weaning foods. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hankel operators and Plancherel formula

    Author : Genkai Zhang; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : We consider the natural unitary action of the group SU(d, 1) on the Hilbert space L2(B,d/j,\), where B is the unit ball of C , dfi\ is the measure K(z, z)~~*+ï dm(z), and K(z, z) the reproducing kernel of the Bergman space on B. For A >—1 and not an integer, a Plancherel formula is proved for this action and, in particular, an explicit formula for the correponding Plancherel measure is found. READ MORE

  5. 5. Least squares modification of Stokes formula with application to the Estonian geoid

    Author : Artu Ellmann; KTH; []
    Keywords : geoid; stokes formula; least sequares modification; total topographic correction; total atmospheric correction; gps levelling;

    Abstract : Many applications in geodesy,geophysics and engineering require physically defined heightsrelated to an equipotential surface of the Earth, thegeoid.During the last two decades theincreased need for refined geoid models has been driven by thedemands of users of GPS, who nowadays must transformGPS-derived geodetic heights into orthometric heights, makingthem compatible with the local vertical datum.
