  1. 16. Closed-Loop Combustion Control of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management

    Author : Göran Haraldsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CR; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Motors and propulsion systems; Teknik; Technological sciences; Closed-Loop Combustion Control; CLCC; Multi cylinder; HCCI; Black box; System identification; State feedback; PID; LQG; Fast Thermal Management; FTM; VCR Variable Compression Ratio;

    Abstract : The current Spark Ignited (SI) engine equipped with three-way catalyst offers low emissions, but has low efficiency at part load, which results in unnecessarily high CO2 emissions. The Compression Ignited (CI) engines have higher efficiency and hence lower CO2 emissions, but suffer from higher Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions, and no three-way catalyst can be used. 2. 17. Investigation of Emission Characteristics for Diluted Flames and Renewable Fuels in Gas Turbine Combustors

    Author : Fredrik Hermann; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; framdrivningssystem; Motorer; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; combustor rig experiments; combustor reactor models; synthetic fuel; liquid fuel; gaseous fuel; UHC; CO; NOx; emission measurements; CO2 enriched; humidified combustion; diluted combustion; premixed combustion; Gas turbine; combustion chamber; Energiforskning; Energy research;

    Abstract : Gas turbines have served as economically profitable and reliable generators of power for the past few decades, and have mainly been used in simple and combined cycles. The increased restrictions on hazardous emissions and the increased demand for profitability have created new prospects for innovative power cycles. READ MORE

  3. 18. Laser Diagnostics of HCCI and Partially Premixed Combustion

    Author : Leif Hildingsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low temperature combustion; Motorer; Motors and propulsion systems; Teknik; Technological sciences; PIV; in-cylinder flow structures; hydroxyl; OH; partially-oxidized fuel; formaldehyde; HCOH; LIF; diesel combustion; partially premixed combustion; PPC; HCCI; framdrivningssystem;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with measuring in-cylinder combustion species and events using different laser-based diagnostic methods. A variety of engine operating modes, like HCCI and partially premixed diesel combustion, have been investigated. READ MORE

  4. 19. Characterization of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Combustion Process

    Author : Anders Hultqvist; Förbränningsmotorer; []

    Abstract : The prime mover in the world today is the Internal Combustion (IC) engine. The development and improvement of the internal combustion engines since Nicolaus August Otto and Rudolf Diesel has continued until today and will continue long into the future. No major competitor to the IC engine has yet emerged. READ MORE
