  1. 11. Unraveling the importance of thiol compounds on mercury speciation, uptake and transformation by the iron-reducer Geobacter sulfurreducens

    Author : Mareike Franziska Gutensohn; Erik Björn; Ulf Skyllberg; Jeffra K. Schaefer; Vera Slaveykova; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mercury; low molecular mass thiols; speciation; uptake; methylation; reduction; Hg 0 ; Hg II ; MeHg; Geobacter sulfurreducens; ICP-MS; LC-MS MS; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; cell physiology;

    Abstract : The biogenic methylation of inorganic, divalent mercury (Hg(II)) by methylating microorganisms leads to formation and bioaccumulation of monomethyl mercury (MeHg) in the environment and can cause severe damage to ecosystems and human health. Diverse microorganisms carry the gene sequence hgcAB and are able to methylate Hg(II) intracellularly. READ MORE

  2. 12. The actinorhizal symbiosis of Datisca glomerata: Search for nodule-specific marker genes

    Author : Irina V. Demina; Katharina Pawlowski; Franziska Krajinski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; actinorhizal symbiosis; Datisca glomerata; nodule transcriptome; nodule-specific marker genes; cysteine-rich peptides; auxins and cytokinins; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : The actinorhizal symbiosis is entered by nitrogen-fixing actinobacteria of the genus Frankia and a large group of woody plant species distributed among eight dicot families. The actinorhizal symbiosis, as well as the legume-rhizobia symbiosis, involves the stable intracellular accommodation of the microsymbionts in special organs called root nodules. READ MORE

  3. 13. Investigation of deep levels in bulk GaN

    Author : Tran Thien Duc; Erik Janzén; Franziska C. Beyer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The first gallium nitride (GaN) crystal was grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy in 1969 by Maruska and Tietjen and since then, there has been an intensive development of the field, especially after the ground breaking discoveries concerning growth and p-type doping of GaN done by the 2014 year Nobel Laureates in Physics, Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura. GaN and its alloys with In and Al belong to a semiconductor group which is referred as the III-nitrides. READ MORE

  4. 14. A Learning-driven Approach for Behavior Modeling in Agent-based Simulation

    Author : Robert Junges; Franziska Klügl; Mathias Broxvall; Lars Braubach; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; agent-based simulation; agent modeling; agent learning;

    Abstract : Agent-based simulation is a prominent application of the agent-based system metaphor. One of the main characteristics of this simulation paradigm is the generative nature of the outcome: the macro-level system behavior is generated from the micro-level agent behavior. READ MORE

  5. 15. Catalytic Methods to Convert Allylic Substrates through Hydride and Proton Shifts : Transition Metal-Catalyzed and Organocatalyzed Approaches

    Author : Samuel Martinez-Erro; Belén Martín-Matute; Franziska Schoenebeck; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Allylic substrates; Iridium catalysis; Base catalysis; Method development; Isomerization; Hydride shift; Proton shift; Mechanistic studies; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The present thesis describes the development of new catalytic protocols to transform allylic substrates into a wide variety of versatile carbonyl and vinyl organic compounds. All procedures that are described in this work have in common the existence of one or more hydrogen shifts as key steps in the mechanism of the reactions. READ MORE
