  1. 1. Path-Connectivity of the Free Space : Caging and Path Existence

    Author : Anastasiia Varava; Danica Kragic; Alberto Rodriguez; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Robotics; Manipulation; Caging; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : The notion of configuration space is a tool that allows to reason aboutan object’s mobility in a unified manner. The problem of verifying path non-existence can be considered as dual to path planning. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Sensitive Amplifiers for Free-Space Optical Communications

    Author : Ravikiran Kakarla; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase sensitive amplifier; sensitivity; optical injection locking; noisefigure;

    Abstract : The demand for high data rate free-space communications is increasing due to the planned future space exploration missions. In the next few years there is a need to increase the speed by 100 times according to NASA, and this necessitates that transmission systems operate at higher carrier frequencies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Surface-normal multiple quantum well electroabsorption modulators : for optical signal processing and asymmetric free-space communication

    Author : Stéphane Junique; Lars Thylén; Uzi Efron; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spatial light modulators; quantum wells; optical resonator; Fabry–Pérot cavity; electroabsorption modulator; free–space optical communication; Photonics; Fotonik;

    Abstract : Electroabsorption is the physical phenomenon by which the absorption of light in a medium can be controlled by applying an electric field. The Quantum–Confined Stark Effect, which makes the absorption band–edge in quantum wells very field–dependent, together with the strong absorption peak provided by excitons, are the physical foundations for the success of electroabsorption modulators based on quantum well structures in telecommunication networks. 4. 4. Ultralow noise pre-amplified receiver for free-space optical communications

    Author : Ravikiran Kakarla; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensitivity; noise figure; optical injection locking; Phase sensitive amplifier;

    Abstract : The demand for high data rate in space communication links is increasing due to the growth of space exploration missions inter-satellite, and satellite-to-Earth data transmission. Optical communication systems capable of handling hundreds of Gigabits per second data transmission with a single light carrier and are suitable for such space links. READ MORE
