  1. 1. Quality of Frozen Rainbow Trout. Effects of different freezing and thawing treatments

    Author : Katarina Nilsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : membrane disintegration; liquid loss; centrifuged tissue fluid; fish; lysosomal enzyme; frozen storage; glazing; freezing; sensory quality; rainbow trout; thawing;

    Abstract : The effects of different freezing, frozen storage and thawing treatments on the muscle tissue of farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhychus mykiss) were studied. Biochemical measurements were correlated to sensory estimated quality changes. The freezing process affects the proteins, the lipid fractions and the membrane structures in the fish muscle. 2. 2. Critical degrees of saturation at freezing of porous and brittle materials

    Author : Göran Fagerlund; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resistance; freezing mechanism; freezing test method; pore size distribution determination ; saturation degree of ; water absorption; frost;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on experimental work carried out during the period 1968-1972. The whole investigation is sponsored by the Swedish Council for Building Research and has been performed at the department of Building Materials at the Lund Institute of Technology. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental studies of ice particle formation with tropospheric relevance

    Author : Erik Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : heterogeneous nucleation; water; freezing; cloud droplets; levitation; electrodynamic balance; light scattering; oxalic acid; kaolinite; dinitrogen pentoxide;

    Abstract : In their fourth assessment report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change points out the influence of particles suspended in air, known as an aerosol, as the main uncertainty in the understanding of the climate system. Aerosols affect climate in a number of ways. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cold Acclimation in oats and other plants: Dissecting low temperature responses using a comparative genomic approach

    Author : Marcus Bräutigam; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : cold acclimation; oat; EST; microarray; transcriptome; chilling; freezing; rice; Arabidopsis; TILLING; mutation;

    Abstract : Cold acclimation protects plants from temperate regions of the world from the deleterious effects of low and freezing temperatures. This is through a series of transcriptional, regulatory and metabolic changes that enable continued growth and survival. READ MORE
