    Abstract : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 2. 2. Gas chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-tandem mass spectrometry methods for the determination of environmental contaminants

    Author : Dawei Geng; Bert van Bavel; Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Jessika Hagberg; Thanh Wang; Heidi Fiedler; Kees Olie; Örebro universitet; []

    Abstract : The recent developments and improvements of instrumental methods for the analyses of the environmental contaminants, especially the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), have made it possible to detect and quantify these at very low concentrations in environmental and biotic matrices.The main objective of this thesis is to demonstrate the capability of the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization technique (APCI), using gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of a wide range of environmental contaminants, including the POPs regulated by Stockholm Convention, such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), but also the derivates of PBDEs and novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs). 3. 3. The role of striatal inhibition in the processing of cortical neuronal avalanches

    Author : Andreas Klaus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Abstract : The brain is spontaneously active even in the absence of any obvious motor actions or sensory perceptions. This so-called resting or ongoing activity reflects neuronal interactions necessary for the brain to process past actions, allow for current inputs, and prepare for future decisions and responses. Abstract : Investigations of soft matter using ultrashort high intensity pulses have been made possible through the advent of X-ray free-electrons lasers. The last decade has seen the development of a new type of protein crystallography where femtosecond dynamics can be studied, and single particle imaging with atomic resolution is on the horizon. 5. 5. Dynamics of Excitation Transfer and Charge Separation in Polymeric Semiconductors

    Author : Arvydas Ruseckas; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anisotropy; Photoinduced absorption; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Polythiophene; Conjugated polymers; Donor-Acceptor Complexes; Carbazole; Charge separation; Excitation transfer; Recombination; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Dynamics of optically excited electronic states have been studied in solid films and solutions of semiconducting polymers and model compounds. Transient absorption, monitored in the spectral range from 0.9 eV to 2.5 eV with a time resolution of about 100 fs, was the main experimental technique. READ MORE
