  1. 1. NbN and NbTiN Hot Electron Bolometer THz Mixers

    Author : Pourya Khosropanah; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : receiver noise; hot electron bolometer; superconducting detector; spiral antenna; NbTiN; submillimeter mixer; THz mixer; HEB; FTS; NbN; quasioptical receiver; heterodyne receiver; double slot antenna; twin slot antenna; Fourier Transform Spectrometer;

    Abstract : The thesis reports the development of Hot Electron Bolometer (HEB) mixers for radio astronomy heterodyne receivers in THz frequency range. Part of this work is the fabrication of HEB devices, which are based on NbN or NbTiN superconducting thin films (≤5 nm). They are integrated with wideband spiral or double-slot planar antennas. Abstract : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 4. 4. Fourier transform and Vernier spectroscopy using optical frequency combs

    Author : Amir Khodabakhsh; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Frans Harren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical frequency comb spectroscopy; molecular absorption; resonant cavity; Fourier transform spectroscopy; Vernier spectroscopy; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Optical frequency comb spectroscopy (OFCS) combines two previously exclusive features, i.e., wide optical bandwidth and high spectral resolution, enabling precise measurements of entire molecular bands and simultaneous monitoring of multiple gas species in a short measurement time. 5. 5. Measurements of oscillator strenghts in Zr II and Cr II

    Author : Gunilla Ljung; Astronomi; []

    Abstract : Experimental oscillator strenghts (f-values) for lines in Zr II and Cr II have been determined using branching fractions (BFs) and radiative lifetimes. Experimental log gf-values for 263 spectral lines in Zr II have been derived by combining previously measured lifetimes with new BFs measured on the Lund UV Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS).
