  1. 1. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration

    Author : Kristina Haraldsson; Per Alvfors; Dougal J. Nelson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; direct hydrogen; Proton Exchange Membrane; PEM; fuel cell; fuel cell vehicle; fuel cell hybrid vehicles; on-board hydrogen storage; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of a methanol reformer for fuel cell vehicles

    Author : Bård Lindström; KTH; []
    Keywords : methanol; fuel cell vehicles; reforming; catalysis; partial oxidation; steam reforming; combined reforming;

    Abstract : Vehicles powered by fuel cells are from an environmentalaspect superior to the traditional automobile using internalcombustion of gasoline. Power systems which are based upon fuelcell technology require hydrogen for operation. The ideal fuelcell vehicle would operate on pure hydrogen stored on-board. READ MORE

  4. 4. Control and Optimization of Fuel Cell Based Powertrain for Automotive Applications

    Author : Qian Xun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power distribution; Cut-off frequency; Fuel cell; Chance-constraint co-design optimization; Supercapacitors; Convex programming; Electric vehicles; Load disturbance compensator; DC-link voltage; Robust co-design optimization; Batteries;

    Abstract : Fuel cell powered electric vehicles, with fast-refueling time, high energy density, and zero CO2 emissions, are becoming a promising solution for future fossil-free transportation. However, the relatively slow dynamic response and the inability of recovering the regenerative energy make vehicles solely powered by fuel cells not an immediately attractive solution. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development and characterization of functional composite materials for advanced energy conversion technologies

    Author : Liangdong Fan; Bin Zhu; Torsten Fransson; Mahmut D. MAT; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low temperature ceramic fuel cell; Ceria-carbonate composite; Electrolysis; Transition metal oxide; Symmetrical fuel cells; All-nanocomposite fuel cell; Electrolyte-free fuel cell; Solar cell; ion conductor and semiconductor; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a potential high efficient electrochemical device for vehicles, auxiliary power units and large-scale stationary power plants combined heat and power application. The main challenges of this technology for market acceptance are associated with cost and lifetime due to the high temperature (700-1000 oC) operation and complex cell structure, i. READ MORE
