1. Towards Classification and Functional Description of Enzymes: A case study of feruloyl esterases
Abstract : The prediction of enzyme functionality from sequence or structure data remains a challenging task that can be best addressed by studying the structure-function relationships determined from previously available information. This thesis work was focused on developing a reliable classification and functional description for the feruloyl esterase (FAE) enzyme family, whose members’ possess both structural and catalytic promiscuity. 2. Transport by Benthic Macrofauna: Functional Classification and Biogeochemical Response
Abstract : Burrowing and reworking activities by benthic macrofauna regulate rates and pathways during organic matter mineralisation in bioturbated sediments. In so doing, they also affect the overall cycling of elements crucial in the biosphere (e.g. C, N, P, Fe, Mn and S). READ MORE

3. Classification, Evolution, Pharmacology and Structure of G protein-coupled Receptors
Abstract : G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) are integral membrane proteins with seven α-helices that translate a remarkable diversity of signals into cellular responses. The superfamily of GPCRs is among the largest and most diverse protein families in vertebrates. READ MORE

4. Applicability of the ICF-CY to describe functioning and environment of children with disabilities
Abstract : The aim of the thesis, with four empirical studies, was to explore the applicability of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, version for children and youth (ICF-CY) to describe functioning and environment of children with disabilities. The components and categories in the ICF-CY were explored by studying items in ICF-CY based questionnaires in studies I and II and by linking texts of individual habilitation plans to the ICF-CY in studies III and IV. 5. Clavicle Fractures : Epidemiology, classification, treatment and outcome, with emphasis on displaced lateral clavicle fractures
Abstract : The rate of surgical treatment for clavicle fractures has increased dramatically in the past 20 years, but the necessity for this remains obscure, particularly for displaced lateral clavicle fractures. The overall aim of the thesis is to acquire knowledge that may help guide treatment decisions for clavicle fractures, with an emphasis on displaced lateral fractures. READ MORE
