  1. 6. Quantitative analysis of tumor growth and response to therapy

    Author : Esmaeil Mehrara; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tumor; growth; response; therapy; modeling; clinical;

    Abstract : Modeling the natural growth of tumors is of value for evaluation of tumor progression and optimization of treatment strategies. However, modeling tumor growth based on clinical data is hampered by the limited data available, since therapy is in general initiated as early as possible after diagnosis. READ MORE

  2. 7. Functional Programming for Embedded Systems

    Author : Abhiroop Sarkar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Embedded Systems; Timing; Concurrency; Functional Programming; Virtual Machine; Language Runtime;

    Abstract : Embedded Systems application development has traditionally been carried out in low-level machine-oriented programming languages like C or Assembler that can result in unsafe, error-prone and difficult-to-maintain code. Functional programming with features such as higher-order functions, algebraic data types, polymorphism, strong static typing and automatic memory management appears to be an ideal candidate to address the issues with low-level languages plaguing embedded systems. 3. 8. Predator responses to non-stationary rodent cycles

    Author : Peter Hellström; Anders Angerbjörn; Xavier Lambin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Buteo lagopus; Vulpes lagopus; Lemmus; Myodes; population cycles; predation; numerical response; functional response; arctic; lemmings; voles; fox; monitoring; raptors; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Regular fluctuations in population size, cycles, are common in small mammals and have important effects on predator populations and life histories. In this thesis, I identify long-term patterns and processes in two specialist predators, the arctic fox Vulpes lagopus and the rough-legged buzzard Buteo lagopus, in relation to their prey (lemmings and voles) and in the case of the arctic fox also to a dominant competitor, the red fox Vulpes vulpes. 4. 9. Biomarker discovery and assessment for prediction of kidney response after 177Lu-octreotate therapy

    Author : Emil Schüler; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PRRT; somatostatin; radionuclide therapy; 177Lu-octreotate; scintigraphy; renal function; toxicity; kidney response; radiation biology; microarray; molecular biomarkers; ionizing radiation; miRNA; proteomics; transcriptional response;

    Abstract : Patients suffering from neuroendocrine tumors are oftentimes presented with spread disease at the time of diagnosis. Therapy using somatostatin analogs is today the only potentially curative treatment option for these patients. READ MORE

  5. 10. Efficient Calculation of Nonlinear Spectroscopic Properties within the Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory Approximation

    Author : Karan Ahmadzadeh; Patrick Norman; Johannes Neugebauer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cubic response; DFT; Response theory; Theoretical Chemistry and Biology; Teoretisk kemi och biologi;

    Abstract : This thesis introduces a novel computational scheme tailored for efficient calculations of nonlinear spectroscopic observables. First, a derivation and implementation of an algorithm designed to harness the linearity of the Fock matrix construction in calculating two-photon absorption cross-sections within the self-consistent field approximation is presented.
