  1. 1. Fundamental Characterization and Technical Aspects of a Chelating Surfactant

    Author : Ida Svanedal; Håkan Edlund; Magnus Norgren; Krister Holmberg; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chelating surfactant; DTPA based surfactant; pH-responsive; characterization; surface tension; NMR diffusometry; conditional stability constants; interaction parameter; ion flotation;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study was to investigate the fundamental characteristics of a chelating surfactant in terms of solution behaviour, chelation of divalent metal ions, and interaction in mixtures with different foaming agents and divalent metal ion, as well as examining its prospects in some practical applications. Chelating surfactants are functional molecules, with both surface active and chelating properties, which are water soluble and therefore suitable for chelation in many aqueous environments. 2. 2. A Fundamental Adhesion Model for Asphalt

    Author : Åsa Laurell Lyne; Björn Birgisson; Robert Lytton; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : One of the mechanisms for the deterioration of asphalt is debonding. This is often referred to as stripping. Most losses of adhesion at the bitumen-aggregate interface are attributed to the action of water leading to a reduction in properties such as tensile strength, tensile stiffness and wear resistance. 3. 3. Lattice dynamics : From fundamental research to practical applications

    Author : Johan Tidholm; Igor A. Abrikosov; Olle Hellman; Ferenc Tasnadi; Gerd Steinle-Neumann; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The reason to perform calculations in material science usually falls into one of two categories: to predict or explain the origin of material properties. This thesis covers first-principle calculations for solids at extreme conditions, from both of the two mentioned categories. READ MORE

  4. 4. On estimates of constants for maximal functions

    Author : Alexander Iakovlev; Jan-Ofov Strömberg; Tuomas Hytönen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; maximal function; harmonic analysis;

    Abstract : In this work we will study Hardy-Littlewood maximal function and maximal operator, basing on both classical and most up to date works. In the first chapter we will give definitions for different types of those objects and consider some of their most important properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Glassy Materials: Fundamental Aspects and Ionic Conduction

    Author : Aleksandar Matic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Materials of very different categories, ranging from polymers to metals, can form glasses. The disordered structure of glassy materials often provide unique properties to the system and glasses are commonly used in various technological applications. READ MORE
