  1. 16. Alloy Plasmonics - Fundamentals and Application in Catalysis

    Author : Christopher Tiburski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO oxidation; nanoparticles; gold; heterogeneous catalysis; LSPR; nanoalloys; nanofabrication; light; dielectric function; palladium;

    Abstract : Alloys have for a long time been important in the development of our society; from the bronze age, where man learned how to alloy copper with tin, to today, where many products are made of steel and aluminum alloys. Similarly, but maybe not as generally well known, also in heterogeneous catalysis alloys are explored to develop solutions to increase activity and selectivity of chemical processes. READ MORE

  2. 17. On the Fundamentals of the Engineering Design Process

    Author : Damien Motte; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; systems theory; design theory; engineering design; product development; problem solving; creativity; machine design; maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : In an industrial context when the product development cycles are shortened and constraints on technical innovations are high, it is very important to provide a very efficient and effective engineering design activity. In the current engineering design literature, most methodologies are by and large based on the so-called systematic engineering design approach. READ MORE

  3. 18. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis

    Author : Martin Eriksson; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Predictive design analysis; Generic design analysis process model; Confidence appraisal activities; Computer-based design analysis; Engineering design; Integration;

    Abstract : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed. 4. 19. Low-coordinate Organosilicon Chemistry : Fundamentals, Excursions Outside the Field, and Potential Applications

    Author : Muhammad Rouf Alvi; Henrik Ottosson; Joji Ohshita; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organosilicon; silene; silaaromatics; silenolate; hypersilyl group; alcohol protection; molecular switch; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis reports on unsaturated silicon compounds, as well as excursions from these into germanium chemistry, single molecule electronics, and silyl protective group chemistry. Both experimental and computational investigations were performed. READ MORE

  5. 20. Electrochemistry of Heme Containing Enzymes - Fundamentals and Applications

    Author : Annika Lindgren; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phenol monitoring; spectroelectrochemistry; self-assembled monolayer; gold electrode; graphite electrode; direct electron transfer; cellobiose dehydrogenase; biosensor; peroxidase; kinetics; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : The thesis is a bioelectrochemical study of heme enzymes, mainly peroxidases and cellobiose dehydrogenases (CDH). It covers both fundamental and applied aspects, viz. studies of the direct electron transfer and kinetics of enzymes on electrodes, and the development of amperometric enzyme-based biosensors.
