  1. 1. Industrial by-products in treatment of metals from polluted water

    Author : Emma Nehrenheim; Lars Wester; Björn Klöve; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; landfill leachate; water treatment; low cost sorbent; pine bark; field study; batch experiments; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Water treatment can be carried out effectively by passive, low cost methods, as an addition or alternative to existing advanced technology. Energy and resource use can be optimized (i.e. minimized) by reusing by-products from local or regional manufacturing of timber and steel. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling and Experimental Investigations on Thermal Radiation in Combustion Environments

    Author : Henrik Hofgren; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal radiation; Property model; SNB; WSGG; LBL; Planck; particle; fly-ash; soot; grate; furnace; combustion;

    Abstract : Thermal radiation is an important physical phenomenon in combustion environments. For the understanding of existing- and the design of new combustion environments computational modelling is a useful tool as it can describe the different transport phenomena. READ MORE

  3. 3. Formation and Chemical Development of Non-metallic Inclusions in Ladle Treatment of Steel

    Author : Kristina Beskow; KTH; []
    Keywords : Metallurgy; Steel making; Ladle Treatment; Inclusion chemistry;

    Abstract : The present study was carried out to investigate theformation and chemical development of non-metallic inclusionsduring ladle treatment of steel.To begin with, an investigation of the deoxidation processand the impact of aluminium addition was carried out. For thispurpose, a new experimental setup was constructed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of welding and heat treatment : modelling and validation

    Author : Henrik Alberg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Abstract : Many aerospace components with complex geometry are fabricated from smaller parts using joining techniques such as welding. Welding and the heat treatment which usually follows, can result in unwanted deformation and stresses. READ MORE

  5. 5. Engineered Wetlands and Reactive Bed Filters for Treatment of Landfill Leachate

    Author : Agnieszka Kietliñska; KTH; []
    Keywords : Blast furnace slag; Compact constructed wetland; Metals; Nitrogen; Polonite; Sorbents;

    Abstract : The main objectives of this study were to investigate (i) anovel wetland treatment technology and (ii) selected bed filtermedia for the removal of contaminants from landfill leachate. Areview of the literature concerning experiences of the use ofconstructed wetlands (CW) for the removal of nitrogen fromlandfill leachate, showed that at least three groups oftreatment systems are in practice: sub-surface flow wetlands,hybrid systems (a combination of vertical and horizontal flowwetlands) and, compact constructed wetland (CCW).
