Abstract : Additive manufacturing technologies, particularly laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), have received much attention recently due to their numerous advantages over conventional manufacturing methods. However, the use of LPBF is still quite restricted, mainly due to two factors: its typically low productivity, which makes the technology less competitive in applications with moderate to high production volumes, and its limited reliability, particularly relevant for applications where high performance is required from the materials. Abstract : Metal laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) allows for production of complex components using the energy from a laser to locally melt micron-sized powder following a layer-wise approach. Considerable scientific efforts are focused on addressing the influence of the process parameters on the melting stability and the control of material properties, while developing necessary monitoring and characterization tools. Abstract : The concept of energy production through the fusion of two light nuclei has been studied since the 1950’s. One of the major problems that fusion scientists have encountered is the confinement of the hot ionised gas, i.e. the plasma, in which the fusion process takes place. READ MORE

  4. 4. The process atmosphere as a parameter in the Laser-Powder Bed Fusion process

Author : Camille Nicole Géraldine Pauzon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

Abstract : Laser-Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique that allows to produce near-net shape components of complex design. Applied to metallic materials, L-PBF allows to consolidate subsequent layers of powder using the heat from laser radiation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Simulation and assessment of particle transport in fusion plasmas

Author : Emil Fransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

Abstract : A civilized society need energy to function. An attractive new energy source is nuclear fusion with its abundance of fuel, intrinsic safety and limited environmental impact. Although the concept of fusion for energy has been well understood for over a century, to create it here on earth has been more irksome. READ MORE
