1. Searches for a Charged Higgs Boson in ATLAS and Development of Novel Technology for Future Particle Detector Systems
Abstract : The discovery of a charged Higgs boson (H±) would be a clear indication for physics beyond the Standard Model. This thesis describes searches for charged Higgs bosons with the ATLAS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The first data collected during the LHC Run 1 is analysed, searching for a light charged Higgs boson (mH±.. READ MORE

2. Emittance and Energy Diagnostics for Electron Beams with Large Momentum Spread
Abstract : Following the discovery of the Higgs-like boson at the Large Hadron Collider, there is demand for precision measurements on recent findings. The Compact Linear Collider, CLIC, is a candidate for a future linear electron-positron collider for such precision measurements. READ MORE

3. Volatility and number measurement of diesel engine exhaust particles
Abstract : Today, emission legislations for engine exhaust particles are mass based. The engines of today are low-emitting with respect to particle mass, with the emissions approaching the detection limit of the current measurement method. This calls for new and improved measurement methods. READ MORE

4. Development of New Approaches to ATLAS Detector Simulation and Dark Matter Searches with Trigger Level Analysis
Abstract : Elementary particles and their interactions are successfully described by the Standard Model of particle physics (SM). However, it has been observed that extensions Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) are required to account for a large part of yet undiscovered particles and interactions, such as Dark Matter (DM). 5. Single-Photon Events in the DELPHI Experiment
Abstract : A series of studies pertaining to the STIC calorimeter at the DELPHI experiment at LEP is presented, and a new generation of fast wire scanners for emittance measurements at PS is described. The STIC studies are centered around a single-photon analysis, in which the reaction e+ e- -> gamma + invisible particles was studied at center-of-mass energies of 161, 172 and 183 GeV. READ MORE
