1. Comprehensive evaluation of spasticity and other sensorimotor dysfunctions after lesions to the central or peripheral nervous system
Abstract : Background: Understanding how sensorimotor impairments may contribute to changes in body structure and function, and also to activity and participation limitations is an important challenge in neurorehabilitation research, of high clinical relevance. Available assessment methods include mainly clinical scales, often with inadequate psychometric properties, such as the Modified Ashworth scale for assessment of spasticity. READ MORE

2. Brain Structure and Function in Adolescents with Atypical Anorexia Nervosa
Abstract : Atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN) has a high incidence in adolescents, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. The weight loss is generally less pronounced than that experienced in full-syndrome anorexia nervosa (AN), but the medical consequences can be as severe. READ MORE

3. Tycho-Gaia and beyond: Combining data for precision astrometry
Abstract : Astrometry aims at producing a three-dimensional map of positions and motions of stars and other celestial bodies in a consistent coordinate system covering the whole sky. This is best done from space, which provides a way of scanning the entire sky by a single instrument in a thermally stable environment. READ MORE

4. Stellar kinematics in surveys and simulations
Abstract : We study stellar motions in the Milky Way with N-body simulations and large astrometric samples from ESA's Gaia mission. We identify two kinematic populations for white dwarfs in the Solar neighbourhood. We also investigate the accreted halo and reveal two new structures. READ MORE

5. Studies of Double and Multiple Stars Using Space Astrometry
Abstract : This thesis introduces and summarizes four papers dealing with the study of double and multiple stars using space astrometry. The introduction gives a brief review of the role of binary observations in various fields of astronomy --- star formation, stellar masses and the mass-luminosity relation, initial mass function, detection of sub-stellar mass companions.
