    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; histokemi; cytokemi; vävnadskultur; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; Skin; Immunohistochemistry; Cannabinoid receptor 1 CB1 ; Pain; Primary sensory neurons; TRP ion channels; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histologi;

    Abstract : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biologically Interesting Compounds from Natural Sources

    Author : Veronica de la Parra; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytotoxicity; Natural products; terpenoids; vasorelaxant activity; allylmercaptane; diabetes mellitus type II; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Cacalia decomposita; GPR40 receptor; TRP channel;

    Abstract : Natural products have traditionally played a major role in the drug discovery process. Besides constituting extremely popular drugs in the market, and an ever-increasing source of interesting and novel chemical structures, they have also aided the characterization of many a pharmacological target. 4. 4. The balance between sex and asex: evolutionary genetic studies of reproductive variation in Allium vineale

    Author : Alf Ceplitis; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ontogeny; growth animal ; Allium vineale; Development biology; evolution; sexual reproduction; reproductive systems; embryology; Utvecklingsbiologi; ontogeni; embryologi; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : Evolutionary theory predicts a disadvantage to sexual reproduction. This manifests itself either by the higher growth rate of asexual females in a dioecious species, or by the higher transmission rate of a gene conferring asexual female function to its carriers in a hermaphrodite species. 5. 5. Thermo- and chemosensitive properties of Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 ion channels

    Author : Lavanya Moparthi; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []

    Abstract : The ability to sense and accommodate to an ever-changing environment is crucial for the survival of living organisms. Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) ion channels comprise a large superfamily of cation conducting membrane proteins that function as molecular sensors in diverse sensory processes including perception of light, taste, smell, sound, touch and temperature.
