  1. 1. Experimental Studies of Advanced Ignition Systems for Lean Burn Natural Gas Engines

    Author : Jessica Dahlström; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ignition system; spark energy; internal combustion engine; engine; spark ignition; natural gas;

    Abstract : One of the greatest challenges for the transport sector today is reducing its environmental impact. This applies especially to the emission aspects, much due to increasingly stringent emissions legislations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation

    Author : Markus Grahn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engine management system; Modeling; Engine control; Diesel engine; Fuel Consumption; Optimization; Emissions; Calibration; Simulation;

    Abstract : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 3. 3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry

    Author : Adina Gogan; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasmas; Gaser; Gases; fluid dynamics; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; detailed kinetics; emissions; engine knock; autoignition; modeling; spark ignition engine; diesel engine; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; stochastic reactor model;

    Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. Abstract : Heat transfer plays an important role in affecting an on-engine turbocharger performance. However, it is normally not taken into account for turbocharged engine simulations. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Premixed Gas Fuelled Stirling Engine Combustors with Combustion Gas Recirculation

    Author : Magnus Pålsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; hydraulik; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; vacuum technology; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; heat pipe; ejector; solar energy; CGR; recirculation; EGR; catalytic combustion; premix combustion; Stirling engine; combustor;

    Abstract : The main objective in the research described in this thesis was to design and test the use of lean premixed combustion using combustion gas recirculation for gas fuelled Stirling engine combustors. A system using a flame-arrester type of flame-holder to stabilize the flame and an ejector system for the recirculation of combustion gas was designed and tested in the laboratory. READ MORE
